Application
No Separate Application or Fee is Required to get the scholarship, it will be automatically considered, once you enrolled for the program. You can enter on your own, or in a team of two or three. If you’re entering in a team, you can all sign up individually, but you’ll need to link your dashboards together so you can all work on the same project. One team member sends the unique Team Code, which everyone has on their dashboard, to the other team members (if your teammate hasn’t received an invite you’ve sent, ask them to check their email junk/spam box). The other team members can enter this code either when they register, or on their project dashboard if they’ve already registered. Once they’ve done this, any work that they’ve done on their own project will be lost. For further details, please check: https://www.competitionsciences.org/competitions/google-science-fair/
Selection process
The judging panel will be reviewing all submissions based on the judging criteria. For the first and second rounds of judging, the panel will comprise researchers, practicing scientists, and university professors. At the finalist judging event, the panel will be science luminaries and tech innovators. First, there’s the preliminary judging (to choose 100 regional finalists), when the judges will concentrate on these sections:
- Question/Proposal
- Method / Testing and redesign
- Results
- Conclusion/Report All sections of the high-scoring entries will be reviewed by experts before a spot in the regional finals (the top 100) is confirmed. The 100 regional finalists will be made up of the 25 highest-scoring entries in each of the 4 prize categories from three regions: The Americas, Europe, Africa and the Middle East, and Asia Pacific. Once again, before the Global Finalists (the top 20) are confirmed, a field expert will do a further, more comprehensive review of the highest-scoring entries. Then there’s the final judging (to select 4 category winners, and the Grand Prize Winner). At this event, at Google’s headquarters in Mountain View, California, the judges will review all sections of the finalists’ project sites and watch them present their work. Other Info Students submit a project in which science is used to help change the world. To enter: Submit one (1) Entry either as an individual or as part of a group (“Team”) comprised of up to three (3) persons. You may participate in only one (1) Entry, whether as an individual, a Team Leader or a Team Member. If you participate in multiple Entry submissions, only the first Entry you submit will be judged. All subsequent Entries in which you are listed as an Entrant, Team Leader or a Team Member will be disqualified. Entries not submitted in accordance with the instructions provided on the Competition Site and these Official Rules may be disqualified, at the sole discretion of the Competition Entities. Note: Google will assign entrants into Age and Regional groups based on information submitted during the registration process. Google will assign each entrant into an Age Group as follows: 13-15 and 16-18, and one of the following three Regions as follows: The Americas, APAC (Asia, Pacific), and Europe/Africa/Middle East.
