The Senior Scholarship program of JBNSTS is the core program that has been functioning since the birth of the institution in 1958. Originally , just a scholarship providing scheme, it has expanded to a holistic pedagogic ideology for the development of creative students of science. This has been made possible by systematic research on educational needs of gifted individuals. This scheme caters to the development of creative undergraduate students studying Basic Sciences, Engineering & Medicine in registered institutions of West Bengal. It aims to the conservation of scientific talent and the nation's need for science and technology personnel can be met. The motivational program for this group involves exposures to the field of creative thinking through contact programs with creative minds. The nurture and enrichment programs involve educational tours, entitlement to other scholarships, seminar programs and project work in groups. Eligibility
Any Indian National who has passed the Higher Secondary or equivalent examination in the year of application (i.e. , current year ) and is studying B.Sc.(Hons.), Engineering or Medicine at undergraduate level in any institution, registered in West Bengal.
Award & availability
Stated amount: 80,000 FOR SENIOR BIGYANI KANYA MEDHA BRITTI: Rs. 4000/- per month and annual Book grant of Rs. 5000/- for four / five years (till completion of B.Tech / BE / MBBS / BS-MS / M.Sc). Research grant amounting to Rs. 80,000/- (Rs. 60,000 + Rs. 20,000) per annum is awarded to JBNSTS Senior Scholars till completion of Masters Degree in Basic Science curriculum vis-a-vis DST INSPIRE norms and regulation, Government of India.

Application Fees is Rs. 200/- The dates of application, examination etc. are advertised in leading newspapers after the result of Higher Secondary examination (West Bengal) is declared. Selection process
Selection will be based on Senior Talent Search Test. Syllabus- 12th std. Examination, Subjects: Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics, Biology (questions from any 3 subjects are to be answered) Written Test question pattern Senior Talent Search Test and Senior Bigyani Kanya Medha Britti is a 90 minutes duration examination with full marks of
- Students are to answer Multiple Choice Questions (MCQ) from Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics, and Biology (any 3 subjects as per their choice) The distribution of questions shall be as below: Section-A
- 8 questions of 2.5 marks from each subject (A total of 24 questions from any 3 subjects are to be answered)
- Award of Marks for each question: Correct Answer: 2.5 Marks Wrong Answer: -1 Mark Not Attempted: 0 Mark Section-B
- 3 questions of 5 marks each from each subject (only 3 questions from any one subject are to be answered).
- Award of Marks for each question: Correct Answer: 5 Marks, for wrong answer - 2 Marks, No attempt - 0 Marks. Selected candidates will have to appear for the Interview.
