Eligibility
To be eligible for the Scholarship, an applicant must meet all of the following criteria: Must remain an international student (not an Australian citizen, New Zealand citizen or permanent resident of Australia) for the duration of the Scholarship; and Must meet all admission criteria for the selected Master by coursework program; and Must be commencing studies at UTS full-time and on campus1 ; and Must not: o be studying a UTS online degree or distance mode degree; or o have completed academic studies in Australia prior to commencing at UTS; and o be a recipient of other scholarships or grants or the Alumni Advantage Program from UTS for the duration of this Scholarship; and be a government sponsored student.
Award & availability
Stated amount: Not Available The award is a reduction in 25% or 35% of UTS tuition fees provided to the recipient for the Standard duration of the course. Up to 450 new Recipients will be awarded the Scholarship annually
Application
No Application Fee is required. For the UTS Postgraduate Academic Excellence Scholarship, students do not need to apply through any separate scholarship application or documentation. Only the documents which are required for the coursework application are considered for the shortlisted of prospected awardees.
Selection process
RECIPIENT SELECTION CRITERIA Academic merit in the most recently completed tertiary qualification or the GMAT exam (for admission into the Master of Business Administration only) recognised by UTS for entry into the selected UTS Master degree by coursework program. Recipients will be awarded a scholarship value based on their results in their most recently completed tertiary qualification, or GMAT exam for those applying for the Master of Business Administration. High achieving students will be awarded the higher value scholarship. The exact scholarship value and number of recipients for each scholarship category will be determined each year by UTSI based on available funding and in the number of eligible candidates over a given application period. SELECTION UTS International will automatically consider all commencing international students applying for a postgraduate coursework program at UTS in Sydney for this Scholarship. There is no separate scholarship application or documentation in addition to what is required for the coursework application. Offers will be authorized by UTS International. Other Info ONGOING RECIPIENT ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA Academic progress: The Recipient must achieve a minimum Pass average (WAM 50+) in each session. Where the pass average is not achieved, payment of the Scholarship may be suspended or terminated, unless the Recipient can demonstrate exceptional circumstances for the consideration of the Scholarship Selection Committee. UTS Enrolment: The recipient must continue to be enrolled as a full-time international (minimum 18 credit points per session) student in the eligible UTS program for the duration of the Scholarship, unless the recipient has been approved to study a reduced study load through the standard International Student Visa Holders Application to Reduce Study Load application process through a UTS Student Centre. The Scholarship is not transferrable to another UTS course. Leave / Deferral / Course Withdrawal: All deferral or suspension requests are subject to approval from UTS International. If the Recipient defers the UTS offer or withdraws from the UTS course after the start of their first session, the Scholarship will be terminated and any tuition fee Scholarship payment already made for that session will be reversed. After the first session, if the Recipient has obtained an approved leave of absence from studies, and can demonstrate exceptional circumstances , they may apply to the Scholarship Committee via the Scholarships Office for a leave of absence for the Scholarship during the period of approved leave. The Scholarship will be terminated if the Recipient takes leave without approval or has not submitted a request to retain scholarship application to the Scholarships Office for an approved leave of absence from the scholarship. TERMINATION OF RECIPIENT’S SCHOLARSHIP The Scholarship will terminate: If the Recipient ceases to meet the eligibility criteria; or If the Recipient breaches any conditions of the Scholarship; or If the scholarship is terminated due to breaching any conditions or misconduct, the Recipient may be required to reimburse UTS for any scholarship payments already made.
