UQ INTERNATIONAL EXCELLENCE SCHOLARSHIP

(1) A student is eligible for the Scholarship if they:

1. are an international student;
2. have applied to undertake studies at UQ on a full-time basis in a relevant program commencing Semester 1 or 2, and have received an unconditional offer;
3. will enrol full time (8 units per semester unless otherwise required according to a student’s study plan);
4. have satisfied the program entry rank and English language proficiency requirements;
5. have not received another scholarship, tuition fee reduction or rebate from UQ;
6. have not received a full scholarship/sponsorship from another organisation (applicants with partial scholarships/sponsorships will be considered at the University’s discretion); and
7. are an undergraduate student or postgraduate student and have achieved a cumulative GPA equivalent of 6.75 and above (on the UQ 7-point scale); or
8. are a high school leaver and have achieved an entry rank of 99.

Selection, Offer and Award of Scholarship (1) The Scholarship is competitive and awarded on the recommendation of the awarding committee to applicants who, in the opinion of the awarding committee, show the greatest merit as demonstrated by:

1. academic performance, and
2. any other information that the awarding committee considers relevant. (2) The Scholarship is offered in Rounds. A student will automatically be considered for the Scholarship if they meet the eligibility criteria. (3) A student will be notified by email if they have been offered a Scholarship, including a due date by which they must meet any outstanding conditions and accept their Scholarship offer.
3. A student who does not accept their Scholarship offer by the due date may not be considered for the Scholarship in future Rounds. (4) The Scholarship is limited in number of places and is awarded as students respond to their Scholarship offer. A student’s offer, or their acceptance of the offer, does not guarantee they will be successful in receiving the Scholarship. (5) Requests for an extension to the Scholarship offer due date:
4. must be submitted in writing to the specified email address prior to the due date,
5. must include a compassionate or compelling reason why the student cannot meet the conditions and accept the Scholarship offer by the due date, and
6. will be considered by the awarding committee on a case-by-case basis. Student will be notified of an outcome to their request within a reasonable timeframe. Scholarship conditions (1) A student must accept their UQ program offer and make their tuition deposit payment for their Scholarship acceptance to be confirmed. (2) The Scholarship is for the program and commencement semester specified in the Scholarship offer letter.
7. If a student defers their commencement of study to another semester, they may no longer be eligible for the Scholarship. The student’s eligibility will be re-evaluated for the new commencement semester if applicable.
8. If a student changes their program from that specified on the Scholarship offer, they may no longer be eligible for the Scholarship. The student’s eligibility for the Scholarship in the new program will be determined by the awarding committee (prior to enrolment) or by the Senior Manager, Sponsored Students (following enrolment). Other Info Termination of Scholarship The University will terminate the Scholarship if the student:
9. does not enrol in the relevant program in the proposed semester of commencement,
10. commits serious misconduct,
11. fails to maintain Satisfactory Academic Standing,
12. does not maintain enrolment for two semesters, or
13. otherwise becomes ineligible with regards to rules & regulations.
