UDAYAN SHALINI FELLOWSHIP
Udayan Shalini Fellowship is a flagship programme of Udayan Care and is a unique academic excellence and personality development programme for deserving and talented girls from the weak socio-economic background. It intends to turn them into empowered and dignified women or Shalinis. Each Fellow stays in the programme until she finishes her course, which is an average period of 5 - 6 years. Udayan Care is an Indian organization headquartered in New Delhi. Udayan Care has been accredited by GiveIndia, Credibility Alliance & Guide Star India, organisations that monitor and accredit non-governmental organisations for transparent and credible performance. The programme aims to meet four major objectives: 1. To provide financial support to deserving but needy girl students from government schools to help them continue their studies. 2. To provide individual attention, counseling and grooming through regular mentoring programmes for their overall mental and moral development. 3. To widen their horizon of knowledge across diverse fields such as career choices, social issues, personality development among others. 4. Eligibility
1. Female Indian citizen & resident of Delhi / Gurgaon / Kurukshetra / Dehradun / Haridwar / Kolkata / Aurangabad / Phagwara / Jaipur / Hyderabad / Mumbai / Greater Noida / Chennai / Panchkula. 2. Candidates are required to obtain admission to the desired college, prior to seeking Fellowship. 3. The applicant should be in class 11 from Government/ Government aided school & completed class 10th in present year. 4. Minimum marks required for academic courses are 60% in class 10. 5. Total income of the family members/guardian not to exceed Rs. 1, 80, 000/- per year.

Selection process
- The screening process is robust and well thought out. It is structured on the ‘NAT’ model (Need, Ambition and Talent).
- A four-step process is in place, comprised of application, written tests, interviews and home visits to assess the need for support.
- This ensures that only the most deserving and talented girls become Shalinis. Just making it as a Fellow isn’t good enough; Shalinis are expected to adhere to a high standard throughout.
- Academically and otherwise, they must show consistent progress and apply for re-admission annually during the Fellowship. Such measures contribute towards achieving USF’s retention rate of 95%.
