UBC DONALD A. WEHRUNG INTERNATIONAL STUDENT AWARD

UBC Donald A. Wehrung International Student Award recognizes outstanding international students coming from impoverished or war-torn areas of the world. The award is offered at the University of British Columbia(UBC) to students who have achieved academic excellence under difficult situations and cannot study without any financial aid.

Eligibility

Applicants must demonstrate superior academic achievement and leadership potential to be eligible for the scholarship. Apart from that, they must meet the eligibility requirements listed below:

  1. The applicant must be an international student who wishes to study in Canada on a Canadian study permit.
  2. Must be applying for your first undergraduate degree.
  3. Must meet admission requirements at UBC including general and degree-specific requirements and the English Language Admission Standard.
  4. Must come from a war-torn, politically unstable, or economically disadvantaged region of the world.
  5. Must have achieved academic excellence under difficult circumstances.
  6. Have no financial means from family or other sources to pursue post-secondary education in your own country or outside.

Study-abroad exchange programs can take you to emerging countries where you’ll address local challenges in health, agriculture, social infrastructure, education, and sustainable development. Application

No Separate Application Fee is required.

  1. Review the application page for the International Scholars Program.
  2. Decide on the academic program you want to study, and which campus you want to choose.
  3. To apply for the International Scholars Program, you must be nominated by your school or non-profit, and submit a reference from an academic referee.
  4. Gather your required financial information, as well as notes on any extracurricular activities and awards.
  5. Apply for the International Scholars Program by submitting the application by the November deadline.
  6. Submit your admissions application to UBC by the December deadline.

Selection process
