Applications are invited for the TED Fellows program. Every year the TED Fellows program selects a new group of extraordinary, multidisciplinary individuals by open application. We look for innovators on the rise in their respective fields with bold, original work. Every year, through a rigorous open application process, TED selects a group of rising stars to be TED Fellows. 20 Fellows are chosen to attend each TED Conference. Eligibility
We are looking for the people working on-the-ground on world-changing ideas -- the doers, makers, inventors, advocates, filmmakers and photographers, musicians and artists, educators, scientists, entrepreneurs, nonprofit leaders, and human rights activists. We are looking for individuals who have a proven track record of great work in their field, with fine character and a good heart. We are looking for individuals from all disciplines, and who have collaborative, kind personalities.
Award & availability
Stated amount: Not Available TED Fellows are part of a diverse, collaborative and global community of more than 500 emerging and established experts. If selected, you’ll have the opportunity to give a TED Talk and gain valuable feedback from TED’s expert coaches on how to hone, express and communicate your work and ideas. You’ll receive career coaching and mentorship from our team of professional coaches and get public relations guidance and media training. You’ll participate in virtual programming for TED Fellows and be invited to attend a TED conference. If you are selected the TED Fellows team will provide you with a Fellowship Agreement, including the terms and conditions of the TED Fellowship program, to be signed before your Fellowship begins. Application
No Fee required to apply for this program. To apply, you’ll submit an application online during our open application cycle. Your written application is the primary means for showcasing your work -- tell us what makes your work unique and impactful. Please write clearly for a general audience and assume we know nothing about your field. We only accept applications written in English. We do not accept late submissions. Once we’ve received your application, we start reading. We read every application, and therefore the selection process takes time. You can expect to hear back from us 8 months after the application closes. All applicants are notified whether or not they have been selected to join the TED Fellows program.
Selection process
TED Fellows are selected by the program staff, with extensive reference checking and consultation with experts across all fields. Selections are made by the group as a whole, not by individuals. There is no algorithm for how we select our TED Fellows. We select Fellows based on their accomplishments in their respective fields, the potential impact of their work, and also their character. The ideal applicant is multidisciplinary in their pursuits and is at a moment in their career to maximize the support of the TED community.
