Society of Women Engineers(SWE) provides financial assistance to women pursuing a course in engineering, technology, or any field in any US university. Female students studying at community colleges, UG, and PG courses are eligible for the scholarship.

Eligibility

Applicants who want to secure SWE Scholarships must fulfill the eligibility criteria listed below:

  1. Must pursue ABET-accredited programs in the field of engineering, computing, or technology.
  2. Only women candidates are eligible.
  3. Undergraduate/community college applicants must be planning to study an ABET-accredited program.
  4. Masters and Ph.D. candidates must be enrolled or accepted at a school with ABET-accredited programs.
  5. Must not be fully funded for tuition, fees, and books or equivalent.
  6. Only full-time students are eligible for this scholarship.

Award & availability

Stated amount: 125,611,125 SWE Scholarships support those who identify as a woman and pursue an ABET-accredited bachelor or graduate student program in preparation for careers in engineering, engineering technology, and fields related to engineering globally. SWE disbursed over 330 new and renewed scholarships valued at more than $1,500,000 (12,56,11,125 Rs.). SWE disbursed over 330 new and renewed scholarships.

Application

No Separate Fees is required to apply for this scholarship Applicants are required to register on the official website scholarships.swe.org and create the login id and password to submit an application form. In general, you’ll be asked to provide the following information: ● Past educational experience ● University and program you plan to attend ● Letter of acceptance. Note, you may still apply If you do not receive your acceptance letter prior to the application deadline. ● Financial details ● School, community, and work activities ● Essay (350 word limit) ● Honors and awards ● Resume/CV ● Faculty reference and personal reference contact information ● Transcript of past academic degree, if applicable

Selection process

  1. Application forms are evaluated on the basis of merit. Preference is given to those who have outstanding academic achievements and demonstrate enthusiasm for pursuing engineering.
  2. Participation/Volunteering in extracurricular activities is also considered as a parameter for shortlisting the candidate.
  3. The final selection is done on the basis of merit factors and the number of scholarships available.​​​​​​​ Applicants will be notified in May of the decision and funds will be distributed by July.
