Eligibility

  1. PhD holders with research experience in any disciplines of science and technology (Computer Science, including Infocomm Technologies and Interactive Digital Media, Engineering, Life Sciences and Natural/Physical Sciences).
  2. Outstanding researchers of any nationality and are ready to take on their independent research, are eligible to apply.
  3. Applicant must have no more than 7 years of post-PhD experience.
  4. Applicant must not be a recipient of a similar early career award in Singapore.
  5. Applicant must be committed to take up an independent research appointment on a full-time basis in Singapore, if selected.
  6. Applicant does not need to be employed in the hosting institution at the point of application. But the prospective hosting institution that provides the Letter of Support (at the final selection stage) must be committed to emplace the applicant, if selected, on a tenure-track or equivalent career position.

Award & availability

Stated amount: 176,456,090 The Singapore NRF Fellowship offers:

  1. A five-year research grant of up to SGD 3 million (approximately USD 2.15 million), inclusive of general overheads.
  2. Freedom to lead ground-breaking research in host institution of choice in Singapore. Number of Scholarship is the subject to availability, for more please visit official website.

Application

No Separate Application or Fee is Required to get the scholarship, it will be automatically considered, once you enrolled for the program.

  1. Applications for the NRF Fellowship open from 20 December 2023 and must be submitted through the Integrated Grant Management System (IGMS) (https://www.researchgrant.gov.sg) by 20 March 2024, 3.00pm (Singapore Time). Late submissions shall not be accepted.
  2. The following attachments uploaded on IGMS as part of the Singapore NRF Fellowship application process must be clearly labelled to facilitate easy identifications of the attachment’s contents: a. completed registration form (download template from “Related Documents” under Grant Call Details page), b. a detailed CV (capped at 5 pages, this should contain updated information of the applicant, including a recent photo, academic qualification, professional experiences, post-doc stints, list of awards/accomplishments and list of all publications), and c. a 8-page research proposal clearly stating the title of the research project, objectives(s), methodology, and execution plans. It should also articulate the significance of the research and how it would add value to Singapore’s research landscape.
  3. The selection of NRF Fellows involves a three-stage process. All eligible applications will be sent to the prospective host institutions in Singapore for longlisting. The longlisted candidates will be further shortlisted by the NRF Fellowship Evaluation Panel (FEP), comprising of eminent scientific leaders, to a round of interviews by the FEP in October/November 2024.

Selection process

Applicants shortlisted to the final rounds will be invited to Singapore for an interview by the NRF Fellowship Evaluation Panel (FEP), an international panel of eminent scientific leaders.​​​​​​​ Other Info The eligibility periods can be extended beyond 7 years for the following documented cases.
