Eligibility
The scholarships will be awarded to citizens who are permanently and ordinarily resident in Canada, China, Hong Kong, India, Japan, Pakistan, and the USA, and who are accepted for admission on a full-time basis for a postgraduate one year Masters programme of study at the University of Edinburgh in subjects related to the following themes: Science Technology Creative Industries Healthcare and medical sciences Renewable and clean energy Please note that applicants for online distance learning Masters programmes will not be considered for this award. Applicants should already have been offered a place at the University of Edinburgh and should have firmly accepted that offer by the scholarship closing date. Applicants should not have completed an undergraduate degree in Scotland.
Award & availability
Stated amount: 866,800 Each scholarship will amount to £8,000 (8,66,860.80 Indian Rupee) and will be tenable for one academic year. The award will be deducted from your tuition fees. These scholarships are supported and funded by the Scottish Government in partnership with the University of Edinburgh. Scholars will be expected to participate in a number of activities throughout the academic year in addition to their course of study, including welcome and end of year events and the promotion of Scotland and Scottish Higher Education. 50 Scholarships Available
Application
No Separate Application or Fee is Required to get the scholarship, it will be automatically considered, once you enrolled for the program. Applicants must complete the scholarship application online. The application form requires three essays of 250 words each against questions that are:
- The reasons for choosing Scotland and the particular institution and program for study.
- Explain how Saltire Scholarships can help the candidate in the future and how the candidate can help in promoting Scotland for higher education
- Explain the experience and skills possessed by the applicant in communication (both written and presentation) and while working with others.
Selection process
The scholarship will be awarded on the basis of academic excellence. Candidates must have, or expect to obtain, the international equivalent of a UK first class or 2:1 Honours degree at undergraduate level. Other Info The Scholarships and Financial Support Team The Scholarships and Financial Support Team can assist with any issues relating to: Undergraduate access scholarships - the University's main scholarship schemes for UK students Financial Support - SAAS discretionary and childcare funds for UK students, and requests for financial assistance from overseas students Loans - Federal and private loans for citizens of the United States and Canada Scholarships - various University and externally funded scholarships across all levels and modes of study Travel funds - limited funds are available to enable students to make visits abroad which are considered desirable for their courses of study The Fees and Student Support Team The Fees and Student Support Team can assist with any issues relating to: Fees Status - is determined for all applicants by using nationality and country where you are "ordinary resident". This will also determine whether the level of tuition fee that you pay e.g. Overseas, EU, Rest of UK, Scotland Graduate and Alumni discount - we administer the discount if you have applied SAAS - confirming attendance so that you get your maintenance payments and we receive tuition fee payment on your behalf SLC - confirming attendance so that you get your maintenance payments and we receive tuition fee payments if you have applied for a tuition fee loan. Notifying SLC of any change of circumstances Sponsors - creating sponsor records from documentation confirming your award to ensure that the tuition fee invoice goes to your sponsor for payment and not to you Tuition fees - how much you have been charged and any adjustments made if you withdraw or interrupt
