RAMAN RESEARCH INSTITUTE TRUST RYSI AWARD

Raman Research Institute Trust and Innovation and Science Promotion Foundation (ISPF) is inviting eligible students for Raman Young Science Innovator (RYSI) Award. The RYSI Award has been instituted to create interest in Science at a young age, leading to more children taking up STEM as a career. The award aims to establish Science as a Fun and interesting activity that can be explored anywhere with simple materials. The award, commemorating the discovery of the Raman Effect on 28th February 1928 is open to all children studying in standards III to X. Participants are expected to create hands-on science activities that demonstrate a principle in the selected topic. Working models, toys, or experiments that help demonstrate a scientific principle may be submitted. Eligibility

  1. Proof of Eligibility, Parental Consent. To participate in the Contest: a. You must be at least eight (8) years of age and no older than sixteen (16) years of age on 1st January to participate. b. Your parent or legal guardian must consent to your participation and agree to these Contest Rules (“Parental Consent”). c. Finalists will have to provide a bona fide certificate from their school or birth certificate in case a child is home-schooled.
  2. Requirements to Enter. In order to participate in the Contest, you must have: a. A valid mobile phone number, b. A valid postal address, and c. A valid email address, d. Access to the Internet is recommended.
  3. Verifying Eligibility – ISPF reserves the right to verify your eligibility and to adjudicate on any dispute at any time. You agree to provide ISPF with any proof of eligibility requested by ISPF and your refusal or failure to timely provide such proof may result in your disqualification from the Contest.
  4. Communications – All communications between ISPF and you, including the Contest Website and email communications, will be in English.
  5. The RYSI contest is open to all residents of India studying in III – X standards. The children should not be younger than 8 years and older than 16 years. Home-schooled children in this age group can also participate. The award is only open to individual children and groups are not eligible.
  6. Any resident Indian Teacher or Aspiring teacher can apply for the REST Award.

Stated amount: 25,000 The award is offered in three age groups: SL Category Awards (in each Category) 1 Junior School (3rd & 4th Standard) Rs. 20,000/- for One Winner in each Category Rs. 5,000/-​​​​​​​ for Two Runners Up in each Category All awardees will also be provided with an Annual ThinkTac programme subscription 2 Middle School (5th to 7th Standard) 3 High School (8th to 10th Standard) Number of Scholarship is the subject to availability, for more please visit official website.

  1. All participants (Teachers and Children) are required to register and create a profile on the Raman Awards website. Up to three entries can be submitted to the preliminary stage at any time, and they will be taken up for evaluation after the next deadline. 2 Students can also submit their entries by post to Raman Awards, Panchavati, 15th Cross, 8th Main, Malleswaram, Bangalore.
  2. How to Register- to enter the Contest, you must first register on the Contest Website during the listed registration times.
  3. How to Submit an Entry Once Registered – To submit an entry to the Contest, you should visit the Contest website and provide the required details. Entries will not be accepted by any other method. Three entries are allowed per contestant at the Preliminary stage and one entry at the Regional and National Finals. Selection process

To give children more flexibility, opportunity, and time, the annual event will be conducted in Two Stages – Stage I (Preliminary) and Stage II (National Finals). The Preliminary Stage will be conducted online and students can make up to three submissions before 20th January. Selected preliminary contestants will be invited to National Finals to be held on 24th February at Sir C.V. Raman’s old home in Bangalore.
