PRE MATRIC SCHOLARSHIPS FOR ST STUDENT CLASS IX AND CLASS X - SIKKIM
1. Scholarship under the Scheme will be available for studies in India only and will be awarded by the Government of the State/Union Territory to which the applicant belongs i.e. where she/he is domiciled. 2. To support parents of ST children for education of their wards studying in classes IX and X so that the incidence of drop-out, especially in the transition from the elementary to the secondary stage is minimized, and to improve participation of ST children in classes IX and X of the pre-matric stage, so that they perform better and have a better chance of progressing to the post-matric stage of education. Eligibility
- Must be Pursuing class IX and X.
- Student should be a regular, full time student studying in a Government School or in a School recognized by Govt. or a Central/State Board of Secondary Education.
- The applicant must ensure that his/her name in the form is not different from the name in his/her Aadhaar and bank account.
Award & availability
Stated amount: 1,000
- Hostellers – Rs. 350 /- per month
- Day Scholars - Rs. 150 /- per month
- Books & Ad-hoc Grant for Day Scholars – Rs. 750 /- per annum and for Hostellers – Rs. 1000 /- per annum. Additional Provision for Students amongst Target group with Disabilities:-
- Reader Allowance: - Rs. 160 /- per month for blind students.
- Transport Allowance: - Rs. 160 /- per month for students do not reside the hostel.
- Helper Allowance: - Rs. 160 /- per month for orthopedically handicapped students.
- Escort Allowance: - Rs. 160 /- per month for Severely Disabled (i.e. with 80% or higher disability)
- Coaching Allowance: - Rs. 240 /- per month for mentally retarded and mentally ill students. No. of scholarships is subject to availability, please visit official website.

Selection process
- All eligible Scheduled Tribe candidates will be given scholarships as prescribed in this Scheme.
- Candidates belonging to one State but studying in another State will be awarded scholarships by the State to which they belong and will submit their applications to the competent authority in that State.
- Scholarship will be available on the basis of merit only.
