PRB POLICY COMMUNICATION FELLOWS PROGRAM

We work in the United States and internationally with a wide range of partners in the government, nonprofit, research, business, and philanthropy sectors. Rigor and objectivity define our approach. We provide expert analysis, training, strategic counsel, and policy and communications consultation on demographic data and population research, and develop communications tools and strategies that drive policies, programming, and funding decisions to improve the lives of people around the world. Our team of demographers and global health experts work with decisionmakers, the private sector, and civil society around the world to inform policy development through.​​​​​​​

Eligibility

It is open to individuals from eligible developing countries currently enrolled in academic institutions and who are between their 3rd and 5th year of studies. Applicants may be in any field of study but their research focus must be related to one or more of the following:

  1. Family planning and/or reproductive health (FP/RH);
  2. Contraceptive use/behavior;
  3. Maternal and child health (MCH), specifically family planning/MCH integration;
  4. Population growth;
  5. Adolescent reproductive health;
  6. Poverty, health equity, and connections with reproductive health;
  7. Gender issues, specifically gender-based violence (GBV), early marriage, and male engagement in family planning;
  8. Population, health, and environment interrelations.

Application

Application Fees information is not available. Applicants must submit the following to PRB and AFIDEP:

  1. A cover letter stating why you wish to participate in this program.
  2. An application form.
  3. An updated resume with a full list of educational and other professional activities.
  4. A two- or three-page summary of the applicant’s dissertation research.
  5. Two letters of reference sent directly from the person writing the reference (via e-mail). Completed applications, letters of reference, or questions about the program should be sent via e-mail to: policyfellows2020@afidep.org

Selection process

There will be a Selection Committee is comprising of representatives from AFIDEP, PRB and USAID. Other Info PRB is a nonpartisan, not-for-profit research organization focused on improving people’s health and well-being through evidence-based policies and practices. Our staff analyze population data and ensure the research and its applications are understood and used widely by decisionmakers, advocates, and media. Our ability to assess and easily communicate critical issues about topics like gender equality, climate adaptation, equity, and aging makes us a valued partner and resource for those working at all levels and in all areas of the world.
