Department of Empowerment of Persons with Disabilities, Government of India is implementing “Scheme of Scholarships for Students with Disabilities” with following six components: a. Pre-matric Scholarship (For Classes IX and X) b. Post-matric Scholarship (For Class XI to Post-Graduate Degree/Diploma) c. Top Class Education (For Graduate and Post-Graduate Degree/Diploma in notified institutes of excellence in education) d. National Overseas Scholarship (For Master’s Degree/Ph.D. in Institutions/Colleges/Universities abroad) e. National Fellowship (For M. Phil and Ph.D. in Indian Universities) f. Free Coaching (For recruitment examinations for Group A, B and C posts and entrance examinations for admission to various technical and professional courses). Eligibility

GENERAL CONDITIONS OF ELIGIBILITY a. The scholarships are open only to Indian nationals. b. All the components of scholarships are open to students with benchmark disability i.e. 40% or more disability as defined in ‘Rights of Persons with Disabilities Act, 2016 and having a valid certificate of disability issued by the competent authority as prescribed under Rules . c. Not more than two children with disabilities of the same parents will be entitled to receive benefits of the scheme. In case the second child is a twin, the scholarship under the schemes will be admissible to the twin. d. Scholarship for studying in any class will be available for only one year. If a student has to repeat a class, she/he would not get scholarship for that class for a second (or a subsequent) year. e. A scholarship holder under this scheme will not avail any other scholarship/stipend. No scholarship will be paid to the students under this scheme from the date he/she accepts any other scholarship/stipend. POST-MATRIC SCHOLARSHIP FOR STUDENT WITH BENCHMARK DISABILITIES Post- Matric Scholarship will be given for study of all recognized postmatriculation or post-secondary courses (upto Master degree level) pursued in recognized institutions/Universities.

Stated amount: 4,000 The amount of Post-Matric scholarship includes the following for complete duration of the course:- i.Maintenance allowance ii.Disability allowance iii.Reimbursement of compulsory non-refundable fees iv.Book allowance GROUP ALLOWANCE Group I All Bachelor’s/Post-Graduate Degree courses in Medicine, Engineering/Technology, Planning/ Architecture, Fashion Technology, Management, Business/ Finance Administration, Computer Science/ Applications, Agriculture, Veterinary and Allied Sciences. All Post-Graduate Degree/Diploma courses recognized by UGC/AICTE in any discipline Hostellers 1600 , Day Scholars 750 Group II Professional courses leading to Degree/ Diploma, Certificate in areas like Pharmacy (B. No Information Available. The candidates after assessing their eligibility and suitability, as per conditions of the Scheme, shall apply to Department of Empowerment of Persons with Disabilities. After the online portal being developed is made operational, the application will be invited through that portal only. The candidates shall send duly filled up application form (available on Department’s website www.disabilityaffairs.gov.in) enclosing therewith requisite documents to this Department. The employed candidates are required to submit a “No Objection Certificate” (NOC) from their employer to this Department. Step 1 - Please visit official website. Selection process

  1. The candidates after assessing their eligibility and suitability, as per conditions of the Scheme, shall apply to Department of Empowerment of Persons with Disabilities. After the online portal being developed is made operational, the application will be invited through that portal only. The candidates shall send duly filled up application form (available on Department’s website www.disabilityaffairs.gov.in) enclosing therewith requisite documents to this Department. The employed candidates are required to submit a “No Objection Certificate” (NOC) from their employer to this Department.
  2. The applications shall be screened by the Screening Committee as per the Scheme guidelines. The eligible candidates shortlisted by the Screening Committee shall be placed before the Selection Committee. The Selection Committee shall assess the eligible candidates based on their educational qualifications and experience, their disability category and percentage, the University abroad and the course to which they propose to take admission etc. and draw a merit list within the sanctioned number of yearly slot which will finally and decisively complete the selection procedure.
  3. No request for change of Institution/College/University shall be entertained at any stage. In case, the Awardee desires to change the course or university, he/she can apply afresh. 4.After the issuance of confirmation letter to an Awardee, the candidate is required to complete all the procedures like verification of original documents, submission of Bonds, Solvency Certificates etc., within six months, otherwise the award letter will be automatically cancelled. No further time will be granted for completion of these formalities. MANDATORY CONDITIONS
  4. The finally selected candidates are required to obtain admission and join an accredited university/ institution abroad within three years from the date of communication of selection. On expiry of this specified period of time, the award will automatically get cancelled and come to an end. If the candidate still wants to avail the benefit of the scheme, he/she may apply afresh.
  5. The selected candidate is required to execute a surety bond on the nonjudicial stamp paper before a notary public with two sureties separately for Rs.50,000/- (fifty thousand), and also solvency certificate separately for the same amount stating that persons are possessing property /wealth for a minimum amount of Rs. 50,000/-.
  6. Candidates availing the benefits of this scheme are required to return to India within one month of the completion of the course. However, if a candidate wishes to stay abroad after completion of the course, the same is allowed without any financial support including return air tickets to India. The awardee intending to return to India is required to intimate Indian Embassy abroad in advance and should also inform the Department of his/her returns.
  7. The candidate will give an undertaking that he will allow his university to share information with concerned Indian Mission abroad and the Department of Empowerment of Persons with Disabilities. Other Info OTHER CONDITIONS a. If a student is found to have obtained a scholarship by false statements, his/her scholarship will be cancelled forthwith and the amount of the scholarship paid will be recovered at the discretion of the Department of Empowerment of Persons with Disability, Government of India. The student concerned will be blacklisted and debarred for scholarship in any scheme forever. b. A scholarship awarded may be cancelled if the scholar changes the subject of the course of study for which the scholarship was originally awarded. c. A scholar is liable to refund the scholarship amount at the discretion of the Department of Empowerment of Persons with Disabilities, Government of India, if during the course of the year, the studies for which the scholarship has been awarded, is discontinued by him/her. d. Maintenance allowance is payable from 1st April or from the month of admission, whichever is later, to the month in which the examinations are completed, at the end of the academic year (including maintenance allowance during holidays), provided that if the scholar secures admission after the 20th day of a month, the amount will be paid from the month following the month of admission. e. In case of renewal of scholarship awarded in the previous years, maintenance allowance will be paid from the month following the month up to which scholarship was paid in the previous year, if the course of study is continuous. f. Scholarship will not be paid for the period of internship/houseman ship in the M.B.B.S. course or for a practical training in other courses if the student is in receipt of some remuneration during the internship period or some allowance/stipend during the practical training in other course. g. The scholarship is dependent on the satisfactory progress and conduct of the scholar. If it is reported by the Head of the Institution at any time that a scholar has by reasons of his/her own act of default failed to make satisfactory progress or has been guilty of misconduct such as resorting to or participating in strikes, irregularity in attendance without the permission of the authorities concerned, etc., the authority sanctioning the scholarship may either cancel the scholarship or stop or withhold further payment for such period as it may think fit. MODE OF DISBURSAL OF SCHOLARSHIP The above omponents of the Scholarship Scheme viz. Pre Matric, Post Matric and Top Class Education shall be implemented through the National Scholarship Portal and the amount will be directly credited into the bank accounts of the beneficiaries linked with Aadhar through DBT mode.
