Prime Minister’s Scholarship Scheme (PMSS) under the aegis of the National Defence Fund, was introduced in the academic year 2006-07 to encourage higher technical & professional education for the dependent wards & widows of Central Armed Police Forces & Assam Rifles (CAPFs & AR) Personnel. From the academic session 2019-20, this scheme has further been extended for the dependent wards of States/UTs Police Personnel who are martyred during Terror/Naxal attacks. Eligibility
Eligibility For State / UTs Police personnel: 1- Applicants who meet the requirements must be dependent wards of state or territorial police personnel who died in terrorist or Naxal acts. 2- Pursuing first professional degree program in the field of Engineering, Medicine, Dental, Veterinary, BBA, BCA, B.Pharma, B.Sc, (Nursing, Agriculture, etc.). 3- To be eligible for the scholarship under PMSS, an applicant should have secured a minimum of 60% marks in MEQ i.e. 10+2 / Diploma / Graduation. 4- Applicants enrolling under the renewal category must receive at least a 50% grade in each of the professional courses they are pursuing in the next academic year. 5- There is only a one-year grace period available in situations when the candidate has delayed submitting their application for a scholarship renewal.
Award & availability
Stated amount: 36,000 Amount of Scholarship:
- Rs. 3000/- per month for girls.
- Rs. 2500/- per month for boys. Note: The above scholarship amount is to be paid annually after selection @ Rs.36,000/- to each girl & Rs.30,000/- to each boy. 500 scholarships will be given to the wards of State Police Personnel who were martyred during Terror/ Naxal attacks in equal numbers to the Boys and Girls (i.e. 250 for boys and 250 for girls). No Application Fee will be charged. Registration For New Applicants: Step 01: Open the official NSP website and click on "https://scholarships.gov.in" under Applicant Corner. Step 02: Read the Instruction /Guidelines, provide the undertaking by clicking on the Check box then click on Continue. Step 03: Start the registration by providing the required details. For Registered Applicants: Step 01: Open the official NSP website and click on 'https://scholarships.gov.in' under Applicant Corner. Step 02: Login with your application ID & password. Step 03: Select the Scholarship. Step 04: Fill out the applicant form. Step 05: Upload the required documents and Submit.
Selection process
Fresh Applicants will be shortlisted based on a percentage of marks obtained by them in MEQ. Other Info Disbursement Of Scholarship: 1- WARB will re-check the verified applications on receipt from CAPFs and AR and will generate a merit list consultation with NIC. 2- WARB will calculate the total scholarship amount required to be sanctioned under PMSS and submit funds to requisition MHA. 3- On receipt of the fund, WARB will process the credit/transfer of the scholarship amount directly into the Aadhar-seeded bank account of the beneficiaries through PFMS/NIC. Other Information: 1- All applicants selected under the fresh category will be given personal letters from the Hon'ble Prime Minister in an appropriate language. 2- This Scholarship is given for five years at one time. Important Instruction
- It will be the sole responsibility of the applicant to make sure that he/she is eligible to apply and fulfills all the conditions prescribed for the scholarship.
- If in-eligibility of the applicant is detected at any stage, before or after the applying for scholarship scheme, or during at any stage by verification by authorities, his/her scholarship will be cancelled without any notice. Disciplinary action will be taken against him/her, further he/she will be blacklisted to opt for scholarship sponsored by Central Government for a period of five years.
- Incomplete application form and failure to attach the requisite documents will lead to rejection of application.
- All the requisite information should be clearly mentioned in the respective column. The information once generated on the part of applicants, no change/amendment will be accepted.
- Mobile number and E-mail address of applicants or wards of CAPFs, Assam Rifles & States/UTs Police personnel is mandatory so as to inform the candidate of any discrepancies or development through SMS and Email.
