PIERRE ELLIOTT TRUDEAU FOUNDATION DOCTORAL SCHOLARSHIPS

This three-year leadership program is designed to train Engaged Leaders, equipping outstanding doctoral candidates with the skills to translate their ideas into action, for the betterment of their communities, Canada, and the world. Scholars are selected each year and receive leadership training in the context of Brave Spaces, in addition to generous funding for their studies.

Eligibility

Only students studying full-time in a doctoral program are eligible to receive a Pierre Elliott Trudeau Foundation Scholarship. Applicants must be registered or accepted in a full-time in a doctoral program at the time they submit their application. Non-Canadian students (permanent residents or foreign nationals) who have been accepted or are in year one or two of a full-time program at a Canadian university are eligible. The selection criteria are the same as for any other student. The Foundation prioritizes young researchers at the beginning of their professional careers and will also consider special circumstances that may have influenced a candidate’s academic and professional career paths. Applicants must provide evidence of their strong academic performance and intellectual capacity. We will look for evidence of this throughout your application, including in transcripts and referrals.

Stated amount: 2,487,279 Pierre Elliott Trudeau Foundation Scholars receive: Membership in a vibrant community of Scholars, Mentors, and Fellows, all of whom are leaders in their respective disciplines and sectors Leadership training from our Mentors and Fellows, including unique experiential learning opportunities that enrich and complement their academic experience Opportunities to acquire greater proficiency in Canada’s official languages (French and English) as well as Indigenous languages Lifelong membership in the Foundation’s alumni network. Application

No Application Fee is required To apply for this scholarship, students must register for an account on the Pierre Elliott Trudeau Foundation’s application portal to receive a username and password.

  1. An account from a previous scholarship competition may still be used;
  2. Login using existing login credentials or request a password reset.
  3. Once logged in, apply by completing the application form in the “Draft” section of the Trudeau portal.
  4. Complete contact information in the “Contacts” section of the portal.
  5. Also, submit LOR and academic transcripts with certified translations. It is advisable to submit the application as soon as possible and coordinate with your respective departments for updates.

Selection process

Selection Will be based on Interview. Lets see some things about Interview Process The group interviews and individual interviews will be held in English or French, or in both official languages of Canada, depending on the language skills and preferences of the candidate. Your application stood out and the Foundation invited you to a group interview. Group interviews are meant to evaluate candidates and identify candidates who best represent the Foundation’s values and selection criteria. There are several group interviews slots, and they try to accommodate candidates as much as possible on time zones. There are up to 16 candidates in each group interview session. The group interview sessions begin with a presentation by the Foundation on its programs, followed by small group discussions and presentations to the greater group.
