Eligibility
To be eligible for receiving OTS, an applicant must:
- Be an international student with a valid Canadian student visa.
- Be proficient in English by the time of application.
- Intend to enroll in a doctoral-level.
- Applicants must not be Holding other Government Scholarships at the time of Applying for the Ontario Trillium Scholarship.
Award & availability
Stated amount: Not Available The program supports and promotes research excellence in a wide variety of disciplines and broad fields of natural sciences and engineering, health and social sciences and humanities, including interdisciplinary and multidisciplinary research. This support allows scholars to concentrate on their doctoral studies more fully, to seek out the best research mentors in their chosen fields and to contribute to the Canadian research ecosystem during and beyond the tenure of their awards. Approximately 15 Trillium Scholarships for doctoral research students are awarded annually at the University of Toronto.
Application
No Separate Application or Fee is Required to get the scholarship, it will be automatically considered, once you enrolled for the program. Every institution has its own application process for the OTS program. The following are the documents required to apply for the Ontario Trillium Scholarship:
- Appropriately filled application form
- A copy of all the university transcripts
- A valid Canadian study permit
- A copy of the applicant’s average calculation
- Proof of standardized tests like IELTS, SAT, etc.
- Candidate’s letters of recommendation
- A list of the applicant’s research contributions
- A list of awards and scholarships received by the applicant
- Applicant’s CV
- Candidate’s plan of studies
- The OTS letter of support from an authorized supervisor
- Proof of good health
Selection process
A selection committee, chosen by the Vice-Provost, Graduate and Postdoctoral Studies (OGPS), is charged with the evaluation of the files and selection of the recipients of the Ontario Trillium Scholarship. Other Info The Canada Graduate Scholarships — Doctoral (CGS D) program is a federal program of scholarships administered by the Natural Sciences and Engineering Research Council of Canada (NSERC), the Canadian Institutes of Health Research (CIHR) and the Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council (SSHRC). Scholarships are awarded through national competitions by these three granting agencies.
