OFID THE OPEC FUND FOR INTERNATIONAL DEVELOPMENT SCHOLARSHIPS

1. OFID (The OPEC Fund for International Development) is pleased to announce that qualified applicants who have obtained or are on the verge of completing their undergraduate degree and who wish to study for a Master’s degree are welcome to apply for the OFID Scholarship. 2. OFID scholarships will be awarded to candidates for master’s degree studies. Applicants must be from a developing country, and he/she must first obtain admission to pursue a Master’s degree studies in a relevant field of development, from any recognized university/college in the world. 3. Through its scholarship scheme, OFID aims to help highly motivated, highly driven individuals overcome one of the biggest challenges to their careers the cost of graduate studies. The winners of the OFID Scholarship Award will receive a scholarship toward the completion of a Master’s degree, or its equivalent, at an accredited educational institution, starting in the autumn of the academic year. Eligibility

  1. Applicants must be between 19 to 25 years of age and enrolled in an undergraduate program (having completed at least two years) or graduate program.
  2. Alternatively, applicants may be recent graduates, having graduated a maximum of one year before the application deadline.
  3. Fluent in English. Good working knowledge of Arabic, French, German or Spanish is an added advantage.
  4. Proficient in Microsoft Office suite, including Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
  5. Keenly interested in the work of the OPEC Fund.
  6. Ability to work in an international multi-cultural environment, with sensitivity and respect for diversity.
  7. Ability to demonstrate the OPEC Fund’s core values (Integrity, Empowerment, Excellence, Innovation, Community).

Award & availability

Stated amount: 8,396,060 The OPEC Fund Annual Award for Development (AAD) honors outstanding contributions to sustainable development with a US$100,000 (Rs. 83,96,060.00/-) prize. Established in 2006, the award annually recognizes a different theme of particular relevance to global development.   1. An Online Application Form.
  2. A Curriculum Vitae (CV).
  3. A copy of their university diploma or equivalent, or an original letter of confirmation from a university/school certifying the applicant is / was an undergraduate student.
  4. A copy of their most recent university transcripts, showing the cumulative GPA or equivalent.
  5. A short statement in English (about 150-250 words) outlining their motivation for applying.

Selection process

  1. First All the application form will be evaluated.
  2. After evaluation, eligible candidates will be shortlisted for the scholarship.
  3. Shortlisting of candidates will be done by authorities. Other Info A nomination letter should emphasize the nominee’s accomplishments and future goals. Both historic and recent performance should be addressed. The following are elements to consider when describing a nominee’s work:
  4. Extraordinary contributions toward fostering development that empowers women while addressing climate change.*
  5. Established record of achievement particularly in the formulation, implementation and/or promotion of development solutions that drive gender equality and climate action in the global south.
  6. Demonstration of a compelling approach to making a lasting impact and evidence of results achieved and their sustainability into the future.
  7. Demonstration of effective partnerships, such as delivering initiatives in cooperation with multiple stakeholders, including governments, Donors and Civil Society Organizations
  8. Demonstration of the effective use of funds received from other donors.
  9. Innovation in program design or technology.
  10. Demonstration of strong project and financial management, including the tracking and documentation of relevant development outcomes such as the gender-disaggregated number of beneficiaries and measures of the achieved improvements.
  11. A project proposal for the use of the AAD grant proceeds that must align with the aforementioned thematic focus areas and principles. Particular consideration will be given to the relevance of project objectives, proposed approach and activities to achieving these objectives, as well as the expected results.
