MMEG AWARDS GRANTS TO WOMEN

MMEG awards grants to women studying at accredited universities in the US and Canada, and selected universities in South Africa and Latin America. US/Canada Program MMEG awards education grants on a competitive basis to exceptional women from developing countries who are enrolled as full-time students for the following academic term in accredited universities in the United States and Canada, have demonstrated financial need and are committed to working for the well-being of women and children. Applicants are screened by an all-volunteer, independent selection committee, and grants are awarded by the Board of Directors in April every year. Applications are accepted from September to January, each year. South Africa Program MMEG awards grants on a competitive basis to exceptional women studying at least part-time or full-time for the following academic term, at the universities below. Applicants are screened by an all-volunteer, independent selection committee, and grants are awarded by the Board of Directors by December every year. Applications are accepted from May until September, each year. 1. University of Witwatersrand 2. University of Cape Town 3. University of Stellenbosch 4. University of Pretoria 5. University of the Free State Latin America Program MMEG awards grants on a competitive basis to exceptional women studying at least part-time (minimum of 2 courses per semester or term) or full-time at one of the Latin American Universities listed below. Applicants are screened by an all-volunteer, independent selection committee, and grants are awarded by the Board of Directors in November every year. Eligibility

  1. be a self-identifying woman, and at least 25 years old at time of application deadline.
  2. be a national of a country listed on the MMEG country eligibility list (except for the Trinity Washington University Program);
  3. be registered (not just accepted) at an accredited in-person academic institution and program when submitting their application;
  4. plan to be enrolled for at least one full academic semester (half-year term) after award of the MMEG grant;
  5. plan to graduate no later than three years after the award of the MMEG grant;
  6. not be related to a World Bank Group, International Monetary Fund, or Inter-American Development Bank staff member, spouse, retiree, or MMEG Board member.

Award & availability

Stated amount: 664,049 Typical grant amount: up to USD $7,000 (Rs. 6 – 6.5 lakh) depending on region/program. Important notes:

  1. Amount varies by program and country

Selection process
