Macquarie Research Scholarship is offered students who wish to pursue research work at Macquarie University. International Research Training Programs Scholarship (iRTP) and International Macquarie Research Excellence Scholarship (iMQRES) are covered under this scholarship. Scholarships are available for study in the following courses: 1. Graduate Diploma of Research (for domestic and international students). 2. Master of Research (MRes) (for domestic and international students). 3. Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) courses (for domestic and international students). 4. Bundle offers of Master of Research and PhD (MRes + PhD) (for domestic students). Eligibility

To secure the Macquarie Research Scholarship, applicants must fulfill the eligibility criteria listed below:

  1. Applicants must be eligible to participate in an HDR grade Program. It includes: a. MRES 2: The Research Training Pathway MRes (Year 2) program followed by a possible Macquarie University Research Excellence Scholarship for Ph.D. b. Ph.D: Direct entry to a 3 year Doctor of Philosophy program c. MPHIL: Direct entry to a 2 year Master of Philosophy program
  2. Applicants must be international students.
  3. Potential applicants are expected to manage external research funding.
  4. Applicants are expected to reside in Australia for the entire period of research.
  5. Must enroll in a higher degree research program in Australia for the first time.
  6. Must have an undergraduate degree from a recognized university or institute.
  7. Must demonstrate high English proficiency with an overall 6.5 IELTS score.

Award & availability

Stated amount: 3,233,355 Scholarships may include one or more of the following:

  1. Tuition fee offset.
  2. Living allowance (stipend).
  3. Top up living allowance (additional funding on top of base stipend).
  4. Fixed sum or one-off payment.
  5. Overseas Student Health Cover (OSHC) and/or visa application costs for international students. From 1 January, the standard rate for stipend scholarships awarded to graduate researchers at Macquarie University will be raised by ten per cent to $38, 500 (INR 32, 33, 355)/annum (full-time rate). The Graduate Diploma of Research scholarship is valued at $5, 000 (INR 4, 19, 921) per session and is paid as a lump sum. If you are a new student, fill in your details and click Register. If you are an existing student and have your login details, click Log on and log on using your user id/student id and password. 3. Click Continue with application to proceed. Note: The screen below will be shown to new students only, who are registering for the first time. 4. Step 1 - Select a Course, click the Next button (shown below) to skip to the Step 2. 5. Step 2 - Select a Scholarship, search for the scholarship and click the Add to application button next to it. 6. Click Next to move to the next tab. 7. Enter the required contact, address, nationality, and cultural details on 8. Step 3 - Applicant Details. Required fields are marked with a red asterisk (*). 9. Step 4 - Educational Background is not a required section to fill in. Click Next to proceed to Step 5. 10. Selection process

Before applications are submitted to a faculty for consideration, applications will be originally evaluated for completeness and eligibility. The faculty’s request and recommendation are then reviewed by the Delegate of the Higher Degree Research Committee. Relevant research qualifications which may be taken into consideration are:

  1. Completion of a research Masters’s degree or equivalent e.g. a coursework Masters with a relevant research component providing information on thesis abstract, grade, examination process, length, and the percentage of research component in the course.
  2. Published research in journals, books, book chapters, etc.
  3. Conference presentation.
  4. Highly relevant and substantial work-related research experience. A selection committee rate applications based on the above documents. After the final decision is taken, applicants are notified about the same.
