The Kurt Hansen Fellowship supports teachers, trainee teachers, and students of teaching subjects or pedagogy in the STEM area (mathematics, computer science, natural sciences and technology). The Kurt Hansen grant can be used for the following activities: 1. Internships, in Germany or abroad. 2. Research projects in STEM education (in Germany or abroad). 3. Further education and training, summer schools, research classes, etc., related to STEM education (in Germany or abroad). 4. Eligibility

Prospective applicants for the Kurt Hansen Science scholarship are expected to meet eligibility criteria listed below: ​​​​​​​

  1. Both international and students from german-speaking countries are eligible.
  2. Must be students of pedagogy, trainee teachers or student teachers (mathematics, computer science, natural sciences and technology).
  3. Must be committed individuals willing to put the effort into his/ her project work, conduct in-depth research and participate in internships.
  4. Must submit a research project and the topic for the same should be innovative.
  5. Young teachers (less than 3 years of teaching experience) with a focus on STEM subjects.
  6. Teachers at elementary schools and special schools (independent of their professional experience) who want to improve their knowledge and skills in STEM teaching.​​​​​​​

Award & availability

Stated amount: 928,050 The scholarship covers the cost of living, travel costs and incurred project costs up to 10, 000 EUR (INR 9, 28, 050)/annum. No. of scholarships is subject to availability, please visit official website.

Application

No Separate Application or Fee is Required to get the grants, it will be automatically considered, once you enrolled for the program. To complete the application process for the Kurt Hansen Science Scholarship, students must complete an application form. It must be supported by the following documents:

  1. The innovative international research proposal accompanied by a confirmation letter from the host university of the candidate.
  2. It must describe with a financial plan for the specific timeline which must be within 6 to 12 months.
  3. The project work can consist of some special courses, assignments required to be carried out in laboratories, research, internships, Masters or Ph.D. programs.
  4. Academic Transcripts
  5. Job application photo of the applicant.

Selection process

The Kurt Hansen Science scholarship is given to the professionals who wish to complete a research project abroad or work on a project in Germany.

  1. The scholarship is awarded on the basis of need.
  2. The selection of the recipient is done by the Board of Trustees of the Bayer Foundation based upon the assessment of the application and the amount requested. ​​​​​​​The scholarship is provided in installments according to a pre-agreed plan. The applicants who are able to display commitment and dedication towards their project plan are usually selected for this award.
