The Kishore Vaigyanik Protsahan Yojana (KVPY) is a National Program of Fellowship in Basic Sciences which is initiated and funded by the Department of Science and Technology, Government of India, to attract exceptionally motivated students for pursuing basic science courses and research career in science. The programme has the following objectives a) identify students with talent and aptitude for research b) help them realize their academic potential c) encourage them to take up research careers in Science, and d) ensure the growth of the best scientific minds for research and development in the country. Eligibility
Educational Qualifications To be eligible for the KVPY SA test, candidates must meet the following criteria: They should have completed their XI standard education (with Science subjects) in the academic year 2
- They must have scored at least 75% marks (65% for SC/ST/PWD candidates) in aggregate in Science and Mathematics subjects in their Class X exams. They need to secure a minimum of 60% marks (50% for SC/ST/PWD candidates) in aggregate in Science subjects in their XII standard board examination. Students who are selected for the KVPY fellowship will only receive it once they join a UG program in Basic Science (B.Sc/BS/B.Stat./B.Math./Int.M.Sc/MS) in the academic year 2024. During the one-year interim period, selected students will be invited to the National Science (Vijyoshi) Camp, and KVPY will sponsor their travel and other related expenses. The eligibility criteria for KVPY SX are as follows: Candidates who are currently enrolled in 10+2 can apply for this stream. They need to obtain a minimum of 60% in their 12th Board exam (50% for candidates belonging to SC/ST/PwD categories). The fellowship of selected candidates will only be activated once they join an undergraduate program in Basic Science (B.Sc/BS/B.Stat./B.Math./Int.M.Sc/MS) in the academic year 2023-2024. As per the KVPY eligibility criteria for 2024, candidates need to secure a minimum of 75% marks in class
- However, candidates belonging to SC/ST/PwD categories must score a minimum of 65% marks in the aggregate of all Science subjects and Mathematics. The eligibility criteria for KVPY SB are as follows: Candidates who are currently in their 1st year of undergraduate courses in Basic Science subjects such as Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics, and Biology leading to B.Sc/BS/B.Stat./B.Math./Int.M.Sc/MS during the academic year 2024 are eligible to appear for the KVPY exam. In the Intermediate Board Examination, candidates belonging to the GEN category must secure a minimum of 60% marks, while candidates belonging to the SC/ST/PWD category must secure a minimum of 50% marks in aggregate in Science subjects. Before taking up the fellowship, if awarded, candidates must obtain a minimum of 60% marks (50% marks for SC/ST/PWD category) in their 1st year final examination of B.Sc./BS/B.Stat./B.Math./Int.M.Sc/MS. Nationality The application is open to Indian nationals.

Stated amount: 28,000 The KVPY Scholar badge is highly esteemed and offers direct admission to prestigious higher educational institutes such as IISc and various IISERs. It also provides an opportunity to gain admission to IIT-Hyderabad, which is renowned for computer science. Upon completing KVPY, you will receive a stipend on a monthly and yearly basis during your basic science course, which can be either a 3-year or 5-year integrated course. Further details regarding the scholarship amount are given in the subsequent section below. For those aspiring to appear for JEE, the KVPY exam provides an excellent opportunity to understand concepts and apply the logic necessary to crack JEE Main and JEE Advanced. It also reduces the pressure of preparing for the 12th board or JEE/NEET. Qualifying for KVPY indicates that you are already qualified to study in Indian higher education institutions. The eligibility for KVPY Fellowship/scholarship is determined by the performance of candidates in aptitude tests and interviews. The authority responsible for selection will grant the scholarship to those who have been selected. Selection process
Since no new updates are available for the Selection Process of KVPY The first stage of the selection process for KVPY applicants, which is an aptitude test, will be conducted for those whose application forms have been accepted. The aptitude test, initially scheduled for 07 January, has been postponed to a later date. Questions from Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics, and Biology will be included in the aptitude test, irrespective of the Stream SA, SB, or SX. The aptitude test is the same for all the Streams SA, SB, and SX. Candidates who clear the aptitude test will be further invited for an interview. During the interview, the candidate’s scientific knowledge and research abilities will be assessed. The final list of selected candidates will be announced after the completion of the interview round. The interview round is scheduled to take place between the 3rd week of January and February. Students will be notified of their interview date, time, and venue via email or the KVPY website. The candidate’s performance in both the aptitude test and interview will be considered for the award of the KVPY scholarship.
