KEMITRAAN NEGARA BERKEMBANG (KNB) SCHOLARSHIP
Kemitraan Negara Berkembang Scholarship, popularly known as KNB Scholarship, is a financial assistance offered by the Indonesian Government to prospective international students coming from developing countries to pursue their degree (Bachelor, Master or Doctorate Degree) at one of the universities in Indonesia. The scholarship was conceived at the 10th Conference of Heads of States of Non-Aligned Movement (NAM) countries, 1st–6th September 1992. The Government of the Republic of Indonesia began to offer scholarships to potential students from NAM member countries in the following year. KNB offers an experience of studying in top universities in Indonesia and at the same living in one of the world’s most diverse and vibrant societies. By getting the scholarship, students will experience quality degree programs managed by the 31 (thirty-one) university partners. Their degrees will enhance their intellectual standing, develop their competencies, and open wider professional opportunities, a foundation for post-college success. Certainly, they will also be able to enjoy first-hand experience of living in a multicultural and multilingual society. Eligibility
Bachelors
- Be a citizen of a developing country.
- Be in good health.
- Maximum age is 25 years old.
- Have graduated from High School.
- Have a good command of English and/or Indonesian.
- Have a recommendation from an Indonesian Embassy in your (nearest) country. Master

- Hold a bachelor’s degree with a minimum grade point average (GPA) of 3.25 out of 4.00.
- Have a good command of English and/or Indonesian.
- Have a recommendation from an Indonesian Embassy in your (nearest) country. Doctorate

- Be in good health.
- Maximum age is 40 years old.
- Hold a master’s degree with a minimum grade point average (GPA) of 3.00 out of 4.00.
- Have a good command of English and/or Indonesian.
- Have a recommendation from an Indonesian Embassy in your (nearest) country.
- Have a recommendation from the prospective supervisor from UM.
Award & availability
Stated amount: 7,888 The KNB Scholarship covers:
- A Settlement allowance of IDR 1,500,000 will be given to new students upon their arrival in Indonesia;
- While taking the Indonesian language course and preparatory programs, the new students will only receive a living allowance and book allowance that will be distributed monthly;
- During the Academic Program, the KNB students will receive a monthly allowance that consists of a living allowance and a research and book allowance.
- A health insurance with a maximum of IDR 400,000 monthly premium (In case the cost of medical services exceeds those covered by the health insurance, the difference should be borne by the student).
- A round-trip international airfare (economy class) from the internal- airport of the student’s home country to Indonesia, including local transport to the host university. Ministry of Education, Culture, Research and Technology of the Republic of Indonesia with 31 (thirty-one) KNB Scholarship host universities in Indonesia will accept 222 (two hundred twenty-two) KNB Scholarship applicants, consisting of 30 Bachelor awardees, 162 Master awardees, and 30 Doctoral awardees.

- Download the Invitation Letter from the KNB Scholarship website.
- Submit the Invitation letter, a scanned copy of your Passport, Academic Certificates and Academic Transcripts to the Indonesian Embassy or Indonesian Consulate to acquire the recommendation letter.
- Complete the online application process.
- Selection process.

Selection process
- Selection process: administrative and online interview.
- The Final Announcement will be announced no later than the 1st week of June and available online on the KNB Scholarship Official website: click here and through the Indonesian Representative Publication network.
- After receiving the selection results, candidates who receive the KNB Scholarship are required to submit a Statement of Receiving the KNB Scholarship, a Letter of Agreement KNB Scholarship, a scanned passport biodata page, and a Confirmation of Willingness to come to Indonesia, on July 1, through the Indonesian Representative in the country concerned.
