KAREN MCKELLIN INTERNATIONAL LEADER OF TOMORROW AWARD
The Karen McKellin International Leader of Tomorrow Award is a need and merit-based scholarship for international students. The award is designed for students starting their undergraduate degree at the University of British Columbia(UBC). 1. The Karen McKellin International Leader of Tomorrow Award is applicable to all UBC undergraduate degree programs. 2. The award covers the full cost of the student's program as well as his/her living costs. 3. The Karen McKellin International Award is renewable for up to three years. The renewability of the award is dependent on the recipient's performance and his/her ranking in the top quartile of the program of study and based on his behaviour/status as per the student's authorization to study in Canada. Eligibility
In order to be considered for the Karen McKellin International Leader of Tomorrow Award, applicants must fulfill all the requirements listed below:
- Nationality: International student studying in Canada on a verified Canadian student visa.
- High School Completion: From a recognized secondary school/ college, or another university.
- Academic Qualification: Demonstrate exceptional and consistent academic performance.
- UG Condition: Secured admission at the University of British Columbia.
- Students should be entering their first year of the UBC undergraduate degree.
- Demonstrate financial need that will otherwise prevent the applicant from studying in Canada. Applicants must note that if they are nominated for a Karen McKellin International Leader of Tomorrow Award, then they will not be considered for merit-based awards offered by the university, including International Major Entrance Scholarships and any other awards including the Outstanding International Student Awards.

Stated amount: Not Available Awards ranging in value up to the full cost of the student's program and living costs are offered to outstanding international students who demonstrate financial need. The value of each award will depend on the applicant's financial circumstances. This is a type of need-and-merit-based award, which recognizes international undergraduate students who succeed to demonstrate their superior academic achievements, leadership skills, their involvement in student affairs and contribution to community service, and other recognized achievements. The value of each award varies and it depends upon the applicant's financial circumstances and course fees. The awards are made to students who are entering their first UG study at UBC. No Separate Application or Fee is Required to get the grants, it will be automatically considered, once you enrolled for the program. The process for the Karen McKellin International Leader of Tomorrow Award is given below:
- Submit the award application and complete the online application form for admission to the University of British Columbia. A student is free to specify two-degree choices in their application form, but only the first-choice degree will be considered for this award.
- Meet the University of British Columbia’s English Language Admission Standard. Selection process
Students are awarded on the basis of their academic merit and financial need. In addition to that, the Karen McKellin International Leader of Tomorrow Award recipients are selected on the following factors:
- Involvement in the Student Affairs
- Leadership Skills
- Contribution to Community Service
- Achievement in athletics, performing art, creative writing or debating. Note: For scholarship, you must apply first for an eligible program at UBC and should fill out the application form along with it, within the deadlines. Other Info Other Conditions For Award 1. The awards are made to students entering the University directly from secondary school or from a post secondary institution to an undergraduate program of study. In addition to academic merit, consideration is given to qualities such as leadership skills, involvement in student affairs or contribution to community service, to recognized achievement in fields of endeavor such as performing arts, athletics, debating or creative writing, and to achievement on external math or science competitions or examinations such as the International Chemistry and Physics Olympiads.
- Consideration is restricted to students nominated by the educational institution they are attending.
- The awards will be renewed for up to three additional years of undergraduate study or to degree completion, whichever is less, provided the recipient stands in the top quartile of his or her program of study and maintains his/her status on a student authorization to study in Canada.
- Award winners will have their situations reviewed annually regarding both academic progress and financial need.
