Launched in 2012-13 by the Government of Himachal Pradesh in honor of the late astronaut Kalpana Chawla, the "Kalpana Chawla Chatravriti Yojana" is a scholarship scheme that provides financial assistance to girls of Himachal Pradesh who belong to economically weaker sections and wish to pursue higher education without any financial burden, achieve their career goals and become self-reliant. The scheme is applicable to all the eligible girl students who are residents of Himachal Pradesh and studying in recognized institutions within the state. Eligibility
- Be a female student domiciled in Himachal Pradesh
- have successfully completed Class 12 in any stream (Science, Arts, and Commerce) from the Himachal Pradesh Board of School Education
- be enrolled as a regular student in a full-time academic, professional, or technical course at a government-aided or recognized private institution.
Award & availability
Stated amount: 15,000 The selected female scholars will receive Rs.15,000 per annum. No. of scholarship - 2000 Every Year

Selection process
- Selection will be based on the passing ratio within each group, using the merit list provided by the Himachal Pradesh Board of School Education (HPBSE), Dharamshala.
- The scholarship is intended for students pursuing post (10+2) courses after successfully completing their (10+2) examinations conducted by the HPBSE. Other Info Terms and Conditions
- Female students from government, government-aided, and private schools are eligible for this scholarship based strictly on the merit list declared by the Himachal Pradesh Board of School Education (HPBSE), Dharamshala.
- The decision of the Director of Education will be final in case of any disagreement regarding scholarship awards.
- Female students must successfully complete their exams each year to continue receiving the scholarship.
