Janhit Jagran is an initiative by Dainik Jagran, India's largest Hindi news daily. Inspired by the Government of India’s Startup vision and committed to promote entrepreneurship in the areas related to the group’s 7 core concerns – educated society, healthy society, water and environment conservation, women empowerment poverty alleviation and human resource management, Janhit Jagran was launched in 2015 and its first winners were felicitated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Since then the initiative has evolved from being an annual award to an incubation platform and now offers funding up to Rupees 4 crore. Janhit Jagran travels to 30 cities across the country with its City Pitches. If you have an idea for a social enterprise or an innovative idea that can contribute in fixing India’s biggest development challenges, this could be the one for you. Eligibility
Any individual or an organization with an innovative idea or an ongoing project/programme to address the pressing issues that concern India in the following domains can apply:
- Educated society.
- Healthy society.
- Water and environment conservation.
- Women empowerment Poverty alleviation and
- Human resource management. Terms & Conditions: 1. The participants must be over 18 years of ages.
- Employees and family members of Jagran Prakashan Ltd. will not be eligible to participate in any way.
- Individual / organization can submit multiple entries belonging to one or more domains/ categories of Janhit Jagran Awards. However, the same entry cannot be submitted under two or more domains.
- Dainik Jagran reserves the right to reject any entry.
- The evaluation and the selection process cannot be challenged in the court of law.
- Dainik Jagran is not bound to give prize in cash.
- Participating in Janhit Jagran does not guarantee any prize.
- Dainik Jagran reserves the right to withdraw or extend the programme.
- All the rights of Janhit Jagran Awards are reserved with Jagran Prakashan Ltd.
- The ideas/ social enterprise models selected for incubation by the partner organization shall be governed by their terms & conditions post selection phase.
Award & availability
Stated amount: 2,500,000
- The enterprise aspirants are offered mentoring and funding support up to Rs 25 lac for each selected entry. The student applicants get a chance to win training at IIM Calcutta besides cash prizes up to Rs 1 lac.
- Janhit Jagran does not give away money as prize, it provides monitoring and evaluation based financial support to selected participants and grooms them to become self-sustaining social enterprises. No. of scholarships is subject to availability, please visit official website.

Selection process
Stages of the Programme: Get Inspired: Read stories of social entrepreneurs, their work and the change they are bringing about in our newspaper and on our digital platforms. Get in Touch: If it inspires you and you are planning to startup in any of the areas related to Dainik Jagran’s 7 concerns, apply. City Pitch: If you are shortlisted, you will be asked to pitch your idea/project/enterprise plan at a City Pitch near you. National Pitch: If your pitch is shortlisted for the Jury Round, you will get an opportunity to pitch before the Jury. Get Honored: The programme concludes in selection of the best projects across each of the 7 Sarokaars. Teams/individuals with functional and flourishing enterprises stand a chance to win funding upto Rs. 4 Crores. Get Going: All selected projects will get the Incubation opportunity.
