INSPIRE SCHOLARSHIP FOR HIGHER EDUCATION (SHE)
INSPIRE-Scholarship for Higher Education (INSPIRE-SHE) is offered to pursue undergraduate (UG) studies and continue up to postgraduate (PG) studies, based on Class 12th standard examination results (top 1%) of respective Boards or within eligible rank in chosen few competitive examinations such as JEE (main), JEE (advanced), NEET (AIPMT), KVPY and securing admission in science stream (in any of science courses or their combination out of the 18 identified subjects) in any recognized College or University or Academic Institution in the country. The scholarship for Higher Education (SHE) component of INSPIRE aims to encourage meritorious students to study basic and natural sciences at the undergraduate level through attractive scholarship and mentorship opportunities. SHE offers 12,000 scholarships every year to meritorious students in the age group 17-22 years. Eligibility
The scholarships are limited to the candidates who have passed Class XII the only from various recognized Indian State and Central Boards and studying regular courses in natural/ basic sciences for three years B.Sc., B.Sc. (Hons), four years B.S and five years integrated M.Sc./M.S. programs in any UGC recognized College/ University/ Institutions in India.
- The eligibility of candidates will be based on performance in Board Examinations within the cut-off threshold (top 1%) for State or Central Board Examination at the Class XII level and/ or b) performance in any of the specified Competitive Examinations within the stipulated cut off ranks and c) recipient of various scholarships and medals.
- National Level Competitive Examination JEE (Main): Top 10,000 Rank as per Common Merit List (CML) JEE (Advanced): Top 10,000 Rank as per Common Merit List (CML) AIPMT or NEET for Medical: Top 10,000 Rank as per Common Merit List (CML) All Kishore Vaigyanik Protsahan Yojana (KVPY) Fellows, National Talent Search Examination (NTSE) Scholars, International Olympiad Medalists and Jagadis Bose National Science Talent Search (JBNSTS) Scholars.
- Other National Level Competitive Examinations for Admission to 4 years BS or 5 years Integrated M.Sc. programs in Basic & Natural Sciences at all Indian Institute of Technology (IITs) within the top 10,000 ranks in JEE (Advanced) All Indian Institute of Science Education & Research (IISERs), National Institute of Science Education & Research (NISER) students following eligibility criteria indicated or mentioned above. Department of Atomic Energy Centre for Basic Science (DAE - CBS) students following the eligibility criteria indicated or mentioned above. University at Undergraduate or Integrated M. Sc. program in Natural Sciences and Basic Sciences following National Level Competitive Examinations indicated above.
- Scope of Subjects under INSPIRE Scholarship The following subjects under Basic and Natural Sciences are within the scope of INSPIRE Scholarship for pursuing a B.Sc./BS/Int. MSc/Int. MS course: (1) Physics, (2) Chemistry, (3) Mathematics, (4) Biology, (5) Statistics, (6) Geology, (7) Astrophysics, (8) Astronomy, (9) Electronics, (10) Botany, (11) Zoology, (12) Biochemistry, (13) Anthropology, (14) Microbiology, (15) Geophysics, (16) Geochemistry, (17) Atmospheric Sciences & (18) Oceanic Sciences.
Award & availability
Stated amount: 80,000 The scholarship is valued at 80,000/- per annum. Each candidate will receive annual scholarship 5000/- per month with total value of ` 60,000/-. All the SHE scholars are required to undertake summer research projects under an active researcher in any recognized research centre across India. A summer time Mentorship grant of ` 20,000/- will be paid every year. The scholars have to submit the Project Report and Certificate from Mentor after the completion of the project in due course of time. Under the scheme, SHE, each selected candidate gets a scholarship amount valued at ₹80,000 per annum for the study of Science and Technology and pursuing research as a career. The maximum period for which the students can avail the benefits of this scholarship is five years or till the completion of the course (whichever is earlier). Find below the complete details of the benefits granted under this scholarship. Awards & Benefits of INSPIRE Scholarship The selected candidates will receive a total scholarship of ₹80,000 per annum. The cash payable to selected students is ₹60,000 per annum and ₹20,000 will be given as a summertime attachment fee to those candidates who undertake a summer-time research project. Note:– All the selected candidates need to undertake summer research projects under the guidance of an active researcher in a recognised research centre in India. SHE offers 12,000 scholarships every year to deserving students in the age group 17-22 years.

Given below is the complete guideline on how to apply for the scholarship. Step 1: Applicants must register as new users on the INSPIRE scholarship portal. Step 2: Click on ‘New User? Register here‘. The candidates must enter their name, gender, date of birth, email, password, eligibility criteria and verification code for successful registration. Step 3: An user ID and password on their registered email ID will be received. Click on the activation link to activate the accounts. Step 4: Keep the scanned copies of all the required documents as separate files. Step 5: Log in to the INSPIRE scholarship portal using their username and password. Step 6: Now, fill in all the details like personal particulars, enrolment information at B.Sc. and Integrated M.Sc. level, senior secondary performance information, national level competitive exam details, contact details and other details in the scholarship application form. Step 7: Upload all the required documents in support of the online scholarship application. Step 8: Review the entered details before the submission of the form by pressing the ‘Print Preview’ button. They must make sure that all the details and uploaded documents are correct. Step 9: Now, click on the ‘Submit’ button to submit the application. Selection process
All the scholarship applications sent by potential INSPIRE scholars are evaluated on the basis of the specified eligibility criteria. On the basis of this evaluation, a list of shortlisted candidates is prepared. The list of shortlisted candidates is displayed on the INSPIRE online portal and on the INSPIRE programme’s website. The selected students need to download their provisional offer letter from the online portal of INSPIRE. The shortlisted candidates also need to upload the necessary documents on their web portal within the specified timeline for further consideration. The selected candidates receive their scholarship awards directly into their State Bank of India (SBI) bank account through DBT (Direct Bank Transfer).
