INFOSYS SCIENCE FOUNDATION NUTRITION CHALLENGE

The Infosys Science Foundation Nutrition Challenge is a joint initiative by the Infosys Science Foundation and the New York Academy of Sciences to draw attention towards the issue of malnutrition in India. This challenge aims to seek ideas from students in the age group 13-18 for using science, technology, engineering and math to improve the deplorable condition of malnourished mothers and children. According to the data by the World Food Programme, about 40% of the children in India suffer from malnutrition. So, this contest intends to find a solution and also reward the solution providers with up to INR 500,000. Eligibility

To be eligible to apply for this contest, an applicant must:

  1. Be an Indian resident.
  2. Be aged 13-18 years.
  3. Have a birth date between 10 September 2000 and 10 September 2005.

Award & availability

Stated amount: 500,000 The benefits will be divided into a grand prize and a second place prize. The details of the awards are: Grand prize - A scholarship amount of INR 500,000 for each member of the winning team. A visit to Bangalore to attend the Infosys prize ceremony. A visit to ISRO at Sriharikota to witness the launch of a rocket. An entry into the Junior Academy of the New York Academy of Sciences in fall 2

Application

Information is not Available. The challenge will begin on September but in order to participate, an applicant needs to first sign up. Follow the below steps: Step 1: Visit the registration portal to sign up for the contest. Step 2: Fill in the required details and click on submit. Step 3: The email mentioned while signing up will receive the link for a consent form. Step 4: Get this consent form filled by the parent or guardian. Step 5: The applicants signing up on the portal will also receive an invitation to join the Launchpad. Step 6: After the announcement of the challenge statement on September, the applicants need to open the Launchpad, form a team and submit their entries before December. Note: Teams can be of 1-6 members each.

Selection process

The theme of the challenge is "Find a solution to malnutrition for expectant mothers and children under 5 years of age in India". The winners of the challenge will be decided based on the following criteria -

  1. A solution keeping in mind that adult and infant bodies are different and thus may need different solutions.
  2. The utilisation of scientific skills for the solution including Science, Technology, Engineering and Math (STEM) skills. Other Info Terms & Conditions
  3. The winning amount would be to use against educational expenses only.
  4. The winners will bear any tax incidence on the scholarship amount.
  5. The scholarships will be disbursed in Indian Rupees via check or wire transfer. 4.Lauchpad will be used for discussions among the team members.
  6. All the communication on the Launchpad will be in English only.
  7. For participants, there will be up to 50 mentors available for guidance.
