The Goethe-Institut/Max Mueller Bhavan Kolkata, the Alliance Française du Bengaleand the British Council, in collaboration with the Centre for International Modern Art and Kala Bhavana, Visva Bharati University, Santiniketan are organizing the third interdisciplinary Indo-European Residency Project Kolkata. The residency will take place in Kolkata and Santiniketan, West Bengal, India, and will last for eight weeks. The artists will be provided accommodation and studio space in Kolkata for seven weeks and in Santiniketan for one week, to meet for productive exchanges with cosmopolitan and culturally interested people, artists, NGOs, and others. The aim of this residency is to enable the artist residents to create an individual or collective art project during their stay in India. At the beginning of the project, the residents are expected to do a public presentation of their artistic work and their planned project in the form of a short audio-visual presentation of their previous works and the project planned for Kolkata in front of an audience. At the end of the residency, a ‘work in progress’ or a ‘collaborative creation’ should be presented in the city for a week. In addition to pursuing their own project, the residents are also expected to get involved with the local arts and culture scene, to enable a healthy mutual exchange of creative ideas between the city's artist community and the artists in residence.
