IIIT HYDERABAD - KOHLI PHD FELLOWSHIP
In line with the core visions of the International Institute of Information Technology, Hyderabad (IIIT-H), the Kohli Centre on intelligent systems (KCIS) was established in the year 2015 to carry out research and outreach activities in the broad areas of intelligent systems. With continuous support from the Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) Foundation since its inception the center has managed to attract talents and resources from across the country to work on related fields. The Kohli PhD Fellowship is extremely competitive and selective and will be awarded to candidates who show remarkable and extraordinary research aptitude, scholarly abilities and capacity to think through unstructured problems. Research, Education & Outreach on intelligent Systems (IS) is certainly a critical area to work on. Hence over the years KCIS has followed a collaborative approach by undertaking joint projects with other academic institutions as well as research labs run by of governments and leading corporates. Events and activities like industry talks, seminars, workshops and Symposiums are regular happenings of KCIS involving more and more audience to work on the fields of IS. - B.Tech/B.E/M.Tech/M.E in all branches / MSc in Foundational Sciences is eligible to apply.
Award & availability
Stated amount: 50,000
- Full-time Ph.D. students are given scholarships that provide a monthly stipend between Rs. 31, 000/- to Rs. 35, 000/- depending on the stage of the student in the Ph.D. program.
- MS and Ph.D students are provided generous travel support to present their published research work in reputed conferences. IIITH offers competitive fellowship programs such as Ripple-IIITH Blockchain Ph.D. for deserving candidates. The fellowship amount under these scheme is Rs 50, 000/- per month. Selection process
Selection into the Kohli fellowship program is a two-step process. Step 1: The applicants must qualify the IIIT-H’s regular Post Graduate Entrance Examination (PGEE) and subsequent interview process. Step 2: Selected candidates who performed extremely well in Step 1 will undergo another round of interview process before KCIS interview panel in order to receive the fellowship. Interview Master of Science by Research & Ph.D. candidates who are shortlisted based on the PGEE exam will be called for subject interview on campus.
- Ph.D. applicants with high GATE score will be shortlisted directly for interview. Shortlisted candidates will be informed before the PGEE exam. Those who are not shortlisted for direct interview will still have to appear for PGEE exam.
- Applicants for Ph.D. in Human Sciences program will be asked to submit a research statement after the application deadline. Shortlisting for the interview will be done based on CV and research statement. The decision on final offer of admission is solely based on the interview performance and the decision of the interview committee is final.
