The HILLs (Himalayan Institute of Live Learnings) Fellowship is an 11-month fully residential, trans-disciplinary program that aims to empower the youth from mountain communities, particularly from the Hindu Kush-Himalayan regions (i.e., Afghanistan, Pakistan, India, Nepal, Bhutan, Burma, Bangladesh & China) with environmentally sustainable solutions relevant specifically to those living in mountainous communities. Eligibility
- All students must have completed their graduation in any relevant field.
- There is no maximum age limit but there is a minimum age limit of 21 years to apply for the fellowship.

- The Institute covers all the expenses that will be incurred for field trips and site visits during the fellowship.
- The fellows will not be paid any stipend during the fellowship. However, they can earn while learning while setting up their own enterprises during the months when they work on their “Big Idea” as part of the Experiential Learning Project (ELP). Selection process
- The selection for the fellowship is highly competitive with limited seats and the candidates are selected on the basis of their interest, solution-mindedness, and the vision (“Big Idea”) that they wish to work upon during their stay in the fellowship.
- Fellows will be graded through formative and summative exams. Formative tests will be ongoing and weekly/ monthly/ periodic and summative will be at the end of the course. This will be a combination of written and oral exams, project works and ELP. Other Info Facilities
- Stay: The fellows will be staying at the farm stays in Phyang that serve as the ecosystem for the fellowship.
- Meals: Breakfast and dinner will be provided at the farm stays. Lunch will be provided either at the Site or at the HIAL campus.
- Medical Facilities: There is a Government Hospital at Leh that is very well equipped.
- Transport: Will be provided for academic trips and for commuting from the place of residence to the Institute.
