Each year Halmstad University offers a number of scholarships to students from outside the EU/EEA and Switzerland with the requirement to pay tuition fees. These scholarships may be granted to students within any field of study applying to our Master’s programs at Halmstad University. Halmstad University Scholarship is only offered to new international students. Halmstad University Scholarship award is initially allocated to the recipients for the duration of one semester. Depending upon their conduct and performance, the scholarship is extended for the duration of the PG program, be it 2 semesters or 4 semesters. Aims and Intentions 1. Eligibility
As mentioned earlier, the Halmstad University Scholarship program is designed to support new students financially. So, there are no specific and rigid eligibility requirements for the program. To be eligible for the scholarship program, applicants must fulfill the two basic criteria given below:
- Must be an international student from outside the EEA/EU and Switzerland.
- Must have secured admission to a Halmstad Master’s Program. If an applicant fits in these criteria, he/she can apply for the Halmstad University Scholarships.

Stated amount: Not Available Being one of the significant universities in Sweden, Halmstad University attracts a large number of international students. Therefore, to make their education affordable, the university offers the students various scholarships like Halmstad University Scholarship. Significant details of the Halmstad University Scholarship program are summarised below:
- The Halmstad University Scholarship covers 25% or 50% of the tuition fee and will be deducted from the tuition fee.
- The scholarship will not cover living costs and there are no grants for family members.
- Scholarship will be initially awarded for one semester only but will be extended for the duration of the program.
- Eligible applicants for the scholarship will be contacted by the university through email.
- Only applicable for a master's coursework program at the university. Scholarships are limited.
Application
No Separate Application or Fee is Required to get the grants, it will be automatically considered, once you enroll in the program.
- Apply for one of our Master’s programs at University Admissions and pay the application fee.
- Fill in the online scholarship application form. Please note that you will need to provide the application number you will receive from University Admissions.
- The committee will award scholarships based on students' academic merits (GPA but also the ranking of the previous university and proficiency in English). No consideration will be taken to work experience or the student's financial situation.
- Applicants with a Halmstad University program as their first priority in the application will be prioritized in the nomination.
- Halmstad University strives for diversity and applicants from countries with few applicants will be prioritized.
- Halmstad University will notify the recipients of scholarships by email after the first Notification of Selection Results in the middle of March.
- Recipients will receive a Scholarship nomination letter and an invoice with the deducted scholarship amount. The scholarship must be accepted or declined by the deadline stated in the nomination letter.
- Students who are not offered a scholarship will not be notified individually. If you receive an invoice with the full tuition fee amount, you have not been awarded a scholarship. The application period for scholarships for studies starting in the autumn current year was between March 8 and March

Selection process
Scholarships will, first of all, be awarded to the most qualified students. Upon nomination, special consideration is taken to:
- The student’s academic performance.
- The University position on the international ranking lists.
- Knowledge of language(s).
- Scholarships will first of all be awarded to those who have Halmstad University as their first priority on the application and submitted the application on time. The application for scholarship is made online at our website and the applicant will receive information of the granted scholarship via email. Upon distribution, certain consideration is taken to:
- The application should be done according to the regulations stated by Halmstad University.
- The profile of the University and the need for qualified students within certain areas.
- The University’s available scholarship fund.

- The applicant is a citizen of a country outside EU/EES and required to pay tuition fees.
- Applicants must prove their nationality with a certified copy of the page in the passport with the personal data and photograph.
- The entry requirements for the education programme must be fulfilled.
- Scholarships can only be granted for studies at Halmstad University.
- Regarding scholarships extending more than one year, ordinary rules for progress from year 1 to year 2 apply. Holders of scholarships who do not fulfil the criteria for progress to the following academic year no longer fulfil criteria for allocation of scholarships for the same period.
- The scholarships are granted for the whole master’s programme provided that study results are satisfactory: i.e. 50% of the credits must be passed before each semester starts (15 credits out of 30). The scholarship holders are expected to complete the program within the given study period.
- The scholarship is only valid for the specific year and programme stated in the admission decision. The scholarship is no longer available for the students who have been granted approved leave from studies to continue their studies in the following academic year.
- The scholarship covers either the total or part of tuition fees. In cases where the scholarship only partly covers the tuition fees, the student must pay the required remaining amount before the expiry date of payment shown. Halmstad University will inform the applicant in what form this due payment is to be made.
- Halmstad University has the right to review future payments of granted scholarships. This can arise after disciplinary measures, intermission of studies or the non-payment of tuition fees.
- Applicants who have been granted a scholarship from Halmstad University, but have not been granted a residence permit, lose their scholarship.
- Students who no longer are required to pay tuition fees will not be granted a scholarship for the continuation of the education programmes that do not require tuition fees. The student must inform the University in writing if he/she is no longer required to pay tuition fees.
