Sasakawa India Leprosy Foundation (SILF) is pleased to invite applications for financial support from students residing in self-settled leprosy colonies to pursue higher professional studies. Every year, the H H Dalai Lama Sasakawa (S-ILF) Scholarship is awarded to the most deserving 25 students by the Sasakawa India Leprosy Foundation (SILF). The goal of this award is to give financial assistance to the most deserving students. The students who are chosen for this scholarship benefit in a variety of ways during the course. SILF will pay the students’ entrance fees, tuition fees, meal fees, and boarding/hostel expenses directly to the institutes where they are presently enrolled after they have been selected. 1. The scholarship will be given only: a. Professional Masters courses b. Professional Bachelors courses c. Professional Diploma courses 2. The scholarship will be available only for courses offered by government-recognized institutions. 3. No capitation fee will be paid for admission. 4. S-ILF will support up to 25 students this academic year. Eligibility

  1. Applications for professional courses will only be accepted on completion of Senior Secondary (10 + 2) or Bachelors.
  2. Only one individual from a family can avail of the scholarship in any one year.
  3. Only first-year applicants beginning their studies/courses are eligible.
  4. Applicants availing scholarships from other organizations/individuals will not be considered.
  5. Admissions to professional courses from government-recognized institutions are eligible for scholarships. Students admitted to non-professional courses are not eligible.
  6. At least one parent must have had leprosy and must be residing in a self-settled leprosy colony.
  7. Applicants from Jharkhand, Chhattisgarh, West Bengal, Madhya Pradesh, Orissa, Bihar, Uttar Pradesh, and Delhi states will be given the benefits of the scholarship.
  8. Applicant must not be less than 17 years old at the time of application.

  1. SILF will pay for the tuition fees, admission fees, mess fees, and boarding/ hostel expenses to the institutes directly.
  2. SILF will also pay a stipend per month to each candidate to meet his or her requirements. S-ILF will support up to 25 students this academic year.

  1. Interested students are required to apply for the scholarship on the prescribed forms. These forms are available on the S-ILF website (https://silf.in/scholarships/). Forms can also be obtained by post from the SILF office in New Delhi.
  2. The application form should be completed and along with the required attested documents should reach the S-ILF office.
  3. In case the student has already gained admission, proof of admission in a government-recognized institute is mandatory. Candidates can also submit an admission call letter issued by the institute to which they have secured admission.

Selection process

  1. All eligible candidates will be listed in the order of the set criteria of merit in the last examination.
  2. Meritorious students will be called for personal interview and top candidates will be selected for the scholarship by selection committee.
  3. The scholarship fund will be given only if admission is secured for a professional course in a government recognized institution.
  4. In case, a candidate decides not to avail of scholarship or fails to secure admission for a professional course in a government recognized institution, the candidate next in line will be eligible to avail of the scholarship. Other Info Expectations from Selected Candidates
  5. Regular attendance and dedication to learning.
  6. High performance.
  7. Regular performance reports will be submitted by the beneficiary every quarter or as decided at the time of award of scholarship. A draft Performa will be provided to the selected candidates.
  8. The candidates should adhere to all the rules, regulations, and discipline of the respective institution/hostel where they are studying. Any report from the institute/hostel which amounts to violation of the above would result in withdrawal of the scholarship.
  9. He/she is also expected to motivate and guide other youths in the colonies. A contract of commitment to free community service shall be worked out between the students and S-ILF.
