GUARDIAN TRUST MASTERS SCHOLARSHIP IN COMMERCE

The Guardian Trust Master’s Scholarship in Commerce is awarded by the University of Canterbury to students beginning a master's degree in Commerce. The scholarship program is available for both domestic and international students. 1. Scholarship is applicable for one year on a full-time or part-time program of Canterbury’s Faculty of Commerce. 2. Master’s program on which the scholarship is applicable must be of at least 120 points. 3. Annually, one recipient is selected for the Guardian Trust Master’s scholarship in Commerce award. 4. Eligibility

The scholarship program in Commerce does not have any restrictions in terms of nationality or residency. The program is open for both domestic and international students, present in New Zealand on student visas. The eligibility criteria for the Guardian Trust master’s Scholarship in Commerce are given below:

  1. Applicants must be intending to enrol in a Master of Commerce (MCom) degree programme in University of Canterbury.
  2. Chosen program must be offered by the Faculty of Commerce.
  3. Fulfillment of academic requirements to secure admission at the university.
  4. Recipients may apply for a second tenure of the scholarship. However, such an application will be accepted only in a year in which the applicant has held the scholarship, and any second tenure must begin in the following year.

Award & availability

Stated amount: 855,467 The Guardian Trust Master’s scholarship in Commerce is annually granted to only one successful applicant from the required background. This scholarship is an excellent opportunity for students wanting to pursue PG-level studies in New Zealand.

  1. An amount equivalent to NZ$16, 500 (INR 8, 55, 467) is given to the recipient in the form of equal monthly instalments.
  2. The recipient must formally accept the scholarship offer within one month, else it shall lapse.
  3. The amount will be paid in equal monthly installments to the recipients New Zealand bank account.
  4. The recipient of the Guardian Trust Master’s scholarship is allowed to simultaneously hold another award.
  5. This excludes any research related reimbursement provided the value does not exceed 50% of the scholarship value.

Selection process

In making the recommendation, the selection committee gives equal consideration to:

  1. The decision of the committee is affected by the academic achievements of the applicants.
  2. Strategic objectives of the UC Business School. Note: If, in any year, there is no candidate of sufficient merit, no scholarship is offered Selection Committee The scholarship is awarded by Te Kaunihera ,University Council on the recommendation of a selection committee comprising:

  6. The scholarship is tenable during full- or part-time enrolment in a Master of Commerce (MCom) degree programme in Te Kura Umanga | UC Business School at Te Whare Wānanga o Waitaha | University of Canterbury.
  7. The scholarship is tenable for an enrolment of up to 120 points (equivalent to 1 year of full-time study).
  8. With the permission of the Associate Dean Research the scholarship is co-tenable with any other award unless the conditions of the other award preclude this. In granting permission, the Dean may impose conditions, such as reducing the value of the scholarship.
  9. The scholarship may be withdrawn, and any paid funds may be recovered if, during tenure, the recipient does not: a. Maintain an enrolment that meets the conditions. b. Maintain satisfactory academic engagement; and c. Adhere to the University’s statutes, regulations, policies, and rules.
