Applications are invited from Indian citizens for the Israeli Scholarships . The scholarships is for a duration of 8 months, to undertake research/specialization, from the universities which are approved by the Israeli Council for Higher Education. Eligibility

  1. The applicant should hold a BA or BSc degree (or higher) and have a good record of academic achievement.
  2. The applicant should be a citizen of the country where he/she applies for the scholarship and be under the age of 35 (at the beginning of the academic year). Israeli citizens are not eligible to submit an application for this scholarship.
  3. Recipients of the scholarship must receive a student visa (A2), issued by the Israeli embassy to which their application was submitted.
  4. Proof of English or Hebrew language proficiency.
  5. The applicant should meet the academic requirements of the Israeli University to which he/she applies. A scholarship will be granted only after the required Institute approves the acceptance of the candidate.

Award & availability

Stated amount: 1,007,438 Three types of scholarships are offered to students by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Government of Israel: Partial tuition fees:

  1. If applied (50% up to a maximum of $6, 000 (INR 5, 03, 719) for tuition fees of $12, 000 (INR 10, 07, 438) and higher).
  2. Monthly allowance for one academic year total for 8 months only.
  3. Basic health insurance. Partial one academic year scholarship, which includes:
  4. Monthly allowance for one academic year (8 months only).
  5. Basic health insurance. Summer language course (Ulpan scholarship), which includes:
  6. Full tuition fees.
  7. Dormitories.
  8. 3 weeks’ allowance.

Kindly label your application envelope as ‘Israeli Scholarship’ and clearly mention your name, full contact address and mobile number on the envelope.

  1. Students must submit the application form (enclosed with this notice) and supporting documents in triplicate to the Embassy of Israel. Supporting documents include:
  2. Detailed letter describing the field the applicant intends to study in Israel, specifying the University he/she wishes to attend .
  3. Curriculum Vitae.
  4. Copies of letters exchanged with Israeli universities, or in the case of a research or post doctorate – the relevant Israeli supervisor. Not required for Ulpan Scholarship.
  5. Official original academic records (or notarized copies) of all relevant studies and test scores, diplomas attesting the completion of an academic degree, including a transcript of the student's records.
  6. At least two letters of recommendation from lecturers/professors who taught the candidate.
  7. Three photographs.

Selection process

  1. The shortlisted candidates would be required to appear for the document verification and Interview.
  2. The venue, time, and date would be intimated to the shortlisted candidates by the Embassy of Israel, India. Other Info Important Point: ​​​​​​​1. Academic year: Applications are for the upcoming academic year.
  3. Country of origin: You should apply in the country of your citizenship even if you are currently residing outside that country. You cannot apply directly to the Israeli Ministry of Foreign Affairs and in most countries, you must apply through the local authority and not directly through the Israeli embassy. Students who hold citizenship in more than one of the countries listed on our website as eligible for application may apply only in one of these countries.
  4. Photograph: Please staple one photo to each copy of your application.
  5. Scholarship Preferred: You can choose either a short-term scholarship or a long-term scholarship. a. Short Term Scholarship - Granted for a Summer Language Course (Ulpan). At present, the Ulpan course that we offer is a 3-4 week program at the Ulpan of the University Haifa. b. Long Term Scholarship - Granted for a period of maximum 8 months.
  6. Personal details: Please fill out your personal details as clearly as possible, preferably in block letters. This information is required for contacting you during the process of application, so please specify any other mailing address, additional telephone numbers and additional e-mail addresses.
  7. Current and previous University Education: Please specify any previous academic experience you have, including your current studies. It is important to know when you started the degree, how long it will take to complete, and what degree will you receive upon graduation. It is extremely important for us to know if the regular academic course in your country leads directly to M.A. and there is no separate degree for BA. Such students will need to complete at least three years of studies in their degree program.
  8. Language Skills: Please try to be as accurate as possible in describing your language skills. If you conduct your research/studies in English (and you are from a non-English speaking country) you will need to present proof of English language studies at a sufficient level from an academic institute, or present the result of one of the common English language tests such as: TOEFL, GRE, IELTS and GMAT. If you intend to pursue your research/studies in Hebrew, you will need to present proof of a sufficient level of Hebrew, such as Ulpan results or the psychometric exam.
  9. Present occupation: It is important for us to know if the scholarship is related to your present occupation and whether it could help you upgrade or improve the quality of your current occupation. You should also specify if you will need permission to leave your current employment for a year of study in Israel.
  10. Medical Health Certificate: It is extremely important to have this form completed accurately by your family doctor. Failing to do so or providing false information might result in difficulties with the health insurance company that insures our students. The form must include a hand signature and a stamp with the doctor’s name and license number. Applications that lack this form or the signature and stamp cannot be accepted.
