GANDHIAN ECO-PHILOSOPHY FELLOWSHIP PROGRAMME

Applications are invited for the Gandhian Eco-Philosophy fellowship programme. The Gandhian Eco-Philosophy fellowship programme is a unique initiative by the Environmental Planning and Coordination Organization (EPCO), Department of Environment, Government of M.P. The fellowship programme will be coordinated and anchored by State Knowledge Management Centre on Climate Change (SKMCCC) at EPCO. The fellowship is designed to offer an experience of deep study of the subject and provide practical experience of the principles of Gandhian philosophy and its relevance in today’s environmental crisis. Eligibility

  1. Individuals having a serious and genuine inclination to understand, study and explore the environmental relevance of Gandhian Philosophy and ideology in today’s context.
  2. Writing, reading, and speaking proficiency skills in Hindi/English.
  3. Willingness to travel, to devote time and commitment to pursue the fellowship with full dedication and sincerity.
  4. The applicant must have a minimum Post Graduation degree in any academic discipline from a reputed and recognized university, institute, etc. Higher Qualifications and scholars of Gandhian Philosophy will be given preference.
  5. The upper age limit is 40 years. However, the age limit will not be the constraint for the selection of deserving applicants, subject to the Executive Director, EPCO’s approval.

Award & availability

Stated amount: 50,000 The fellows will be entitled to the following benefits during the fellowship

  1. Fellows will be entitled to a fellowship grant, a consolidated sum of Rs. 50,000 to carry out the research work during the entire fellowship period.
  2. The travel and stay arrangements during the exposure visits will be made by EPCO for all the fellows.
  3. Standing invitations to all the fellows to attend monthly knowledge sessions with experts that will be organized by EPCO.
  4. The fellows will have access to EPCO’s library during the fellowship period.
  5. Upon request the fellows may be provided a workspace for a short duration during the fellowship period.
  6. A copy of the book of research papers proposed to be published by EPCO
  7. On successful graduation the fellows will be awarded a certificate of completion by EPCO. Number of Fellowship is the subject to availability, for more please visit official website.

  1. Self-attested Photocopy of academic record
  2. A statement of Purpose (SOP) (not more than 200 words) explaining the
  3. A copy of a recently published article or paper on Gandhian Philosophy or any other contemporary issues originally written by you, as a proof of your academic contribution. This will help us to assess your competence for the fellowship.
  4. Reference letter by any person of eminence (Current employer/supervisor, Professor or academic guide, elected people’s representative, District Collector etc.)

Selection process

  1. The application process will be online.
  2. The fellowship will not be offered on a first come first serve basis.
  3. Maximum batch size will be 20 participants.
  4. The applications received will be reviewed by the panel of experts. The applicants shortlisted by the panel may be called for personal interview (if need be it may be conducted online through Skype / Google etc.).
  5. Selection will be made primarily on the basis of your inclination and contribution towards Gandhian philosophy, complete application form submitted along with SOP, article submitted, and personal interview by jury.
  6. Care will be taken to maintain regional balance, gender balance, and diversity of backgrounds and qualifications of applicants.
  7. No TA/DA shall be admissible for appearing for a personal interview.
  8. On selection of an applicant for the fellowship an agreement will be signed between the selected fellow and EPCO and this document will become the part of the agreement.
  9. The selected fellows will report to Coordinator, State Knowledge Management Centre on Climate Change (SKMCCC), EPCO.
  10. Any unofficial and unlawful means of recommendation will not be entertained and would automatically lead to the summarily rejection of the application form.
  11. Executive Director of EPCO will approve the list of candidates recommended by the panel l. Executive Director, EPCO reserves the right to cancel, debar, or disqualify any or all applications without assigning any reasons. m. Executive Director, EPCO’s decision will be final and abiding. Other Info Key elements of fellowship Knowledge Sessions Interactive sessions with thinkers, experts and practitioners of Gandhian Philosophy for associates are organized to enhance their understanding of Gandhian philosophy and its applicability in current times. Experiential Exposure Visits Experiential & guided visits to places of traditional wisdom, environmental importance, centers of Gandhian philosophy and places where it is being translated into actions. Research Paper Writing During the course of the fellowship, the associates undertake writing research paper worthy enough of publishing in peer reviewed journals. The paper writing process is guided by the team of experts at EPCO.
