DST - NATIONAL AWARD FOR WOMEN’S DEVELOPMENT
Nominations are invited to recognize the contribution of institutions & individuals who have worked for women’s development through application of Science and Technology (S&T), in the following categories. Category I: For individuals The award would carry a cash of Rs. 5.00 lakh (Five Lakh) along with a memento and a citation Category II: For institutions The award would carry a cash of Rs.15.00 lakh (Fifteen Lakh) along with a memento and a citation Category III: National Award for Young Woman showing excellence through application of Technology, for societal benefits The Award would carry a cash of Rs. 1.00 Lakh(One Lakh), a Citation and a Memento. (Category I & II are for the applicants of any gender, who have contributed for Women’s development through application of Science & Technology; Category III is for young woman applicants only who have contributed for societal benefit through application of Technology). Eligibility
- For Category I, resident Indian citizens of any gender with at least Post Graduate Degree in Natural Sciences or a Bachelor Degree in Engineering/Technology/Medicine can apply;
- For Category II, S&T based institutions (governmental & non-governmental)-- Recognized R&D laboratories, Universities and Educational Institutions, S&T based voluntary organizations, registered under the Societies Registration Act 1860 or a trust registered under the Indian Trusts Act 1982 or Charitable or Religious Act 1920 or under the corresponding State Act, can apply. Voluntary organizations having NGO darpan portal registration number are only eligible to apply.
- For Category III, the candidate should be resident Indian young woman (between 20-40 years of age) with at least Post Graduate Degree in Natural Sciences or a Bachelor Degree in Engineering/Technology/Medicine. She should have developed a technology for societal benefit which should be well established and verified by an Institute of repute. Documentary evidence of the patent status of her technology should be provided.

Selection process
- First All the application form will be evaluated.
- After evaluation, eligible candidates will be shortlisted for the scholarship.
- Shortlisting of candidates will be done by authorities. Other Info General Terms & Conditions
- A Selection Committee consisting of eminent persons has been constituted by the Department of Science & Technology for this purpose.
- The Selection Committee will have the sole right to select the awardees and formulate rules governing such selection.
- If during consideration of the nominations received and/or of other eligible candidates, no one is deemed suitable for the award, it would not be given that year.
- In exceptional circumstances, if more than one individual/institution is selected for an award, the amount of award will be separately given to each.
- No correspondence will be entertained regarding the selection of the awardees or on the selection procedure.
- Recommendation other than that of the nominator will not be considered and will lead to disqualification.
- The awardees shall be intimated by post and e-mail.
- The Department of Science & Technology will have a right to modify the terms and conditions for the award as and when it deems fit.
- Documents submitted can be returned only after completion of the process including presentation ceremony of the award, if requested.
- Nominations received on earlier occasions for the award will be admissible only with fresh accomplishments subsequently.
- The awardees will be expected to deliver a talk on a subject chosen by DST at a place and venue to be intimated by the Department of Science and Technology.
- The members of the committee can also propose or nominate a candidate whom they fit worthy of this award even though his/her/its nomination has not been received
