Dr APJ Abdul Kalam was the 11th President of India. During his five years in office, Dr Abdul Kalam’s focus was on transforming India into a developed nation by 2020. A distinguished scientist and aeronautical engineer by training, Dr Kalam advocated that it is possible to work cooperatively for an economically developed, prosperous and peaceful society. In recognition of his contribution to his profession, Dr Kalam was presented with an Honorary Doctorate of Engineering from the University of Sydney in 2011. Eligibility
To be eligible for Dr APJ Abdul Kalam International Postgraduate Scholarship, an applicant must:
- Be an international student.
- Possess an admission offer for a Masters’s level program in the Faculty of Engineering at the University of Sydney.
- Have a minimum WAM (Weighted Average Marks) of 75 in undergraduate coursework.
- Applicants must not hold any other primary scholarship offered by the University of Sydney.
- Students transferring from other PG programs or those who have already commenced their courses are not eligible for this scholarship.
- The recipients must commence their degree in the same semester and year the scholarship is awarded.
- Students who have already commenced their postgraduate studies in the Faculty, or students transferring from another postgraduate program are not eligible.

- The scholarship contributes 50% of the total tuition fees for the PG program at the Faculty of Engineering, University of Sydney.
- The tenure of the scholarship is for 1 year renewed semester-wise. Scholarships are limited.
Application
No Separate Application or Fee is Required to get the grants, it will be automatically considered, once you enrolled for the program. Selection process
- Academic achievements of applicants are the main criteria for awarding the Dr APJ Abdul Kalam International Postgraduate Scholarship.
- The selection committee headed by the Associate Dean (Education) will select students for the scholarship program. After receiving the online applications, the committee will evaluate the applicants and based on their academic performance, compile a list of shortlisted candidates.
- Shortlisted applicants will be interviewed by the committee. Selected students will be notified through an official letter. Other Info Terms and Conditions are:
- To renew the scholarship, recipients must maintain WAM of 65 in each of the semesters.
- This scholarship offers only 50% of the total tuition fees. All other expenses are required to be borne by the student. This International Postgraduate Scholarship will be terminated if:
- The recipient withdraws from an eligible course or fails to enroll.
- The student status changes from international to domestic.
- The recipient does not resume study at the end of a period of approved leave.
- The student does not maintain satisfactory academic performance.
- The recipient is determined by the University to be guilty.
