Dr APJ Abdul Kalam IGNITE competition is an annual national competition to harness the creative and innovative spirit of children (up to Standard XII in school or those up to the age of 17 years out of school). Students are invited to send their original and creative technological ideas and innovations for the same. NIF invites submissions of creative technological ideas/innovations from the students up to Standard XII for the tenth national competition for children's ideas and innovations. Eligibility

  1. Applicants must be children of class 12 or below.
  2. To apply, the age limit is 17 for school students as well as children out of school.
  3. Students from any board of education are eligible to participate in IGNITE awards.
  4. Students from any background such as Science, Commerce, and Arts are eligible for participating in Kalam IGNITE Awards.
  5. Children up to age 17 from un-organised sector with basic/ formal education can apply.

  1. NIF will be evaluating all the submissions and will send feedback to participants.
  2. An exhibition would be organized only for the awarded/selected projects.
  3. NIF will bear the travel allowance and local hospitality of the selected student(s) and one person who is accompanying the student.
  4. The ideas found practical and useful will be provided with financial and mentoring support.
  5. For deserving cases, the patent would be issued in the student’s name without any cost.
  6. Ideas may fascinate entrepreneurs and there may be monetary consideration if it gets licensed.

Application

No application fee will be charged. Step 1: The candidates should click here to apply. Step 2: The applicant can E-mail the details to ignite@nifindia.org. Step 3: Details such as age, class, address, contact number, school name, and school address along with the project details (title, detail and photos / diagrams). And the declaration that the project has been done by the student without any guidance from parents or teachers. Step 4: The participant can submit ideas online. Step 5: Submit Online link is available on the official website of NIF (Click on Submit Online > Enter the details > Upload File (Idea/ Traditional Knowledge) > Submit). Selection process

NIF will review all submissions and send feedback to students. However, since the number of submissions is very high, it might take some time to respond to each one. Other Info Terms and Conditions

  1. No particular format for the submission except, the student must mention the name, age, class, address, contact number, school name, and school address along with the project details (title, detail and photos/ diagrams).
  2. Also, students are suggested to enroll in a declaration that the project has been done by the student without any guidance from parents or teachers.
  3. The general essay’s on problems of social issues such as unemployment, global warming are not considered for the submission.
  4. Projects or concepts from textbooks such as rainwater harvesting, vermicompost, letterbox alarm are not allowed for submission.
  5. Projects guided by teachers or parents are strictly not considered for the submission.
  6. The number of awards depends upon the number of quality submissions.
  7. Students can submit as many entries as they want.
  8. Submissions must be of original in idea and innovations.
  9. Students are encouraged to submit ideas in a group.
  10. No separate awards for groups and individuals.
