DEUTSCHLAND STIPENDIUM PROGRAM

The Deutschlandstipendium provides financial and non-material support to high-achieving and committed students from all over the world. Modelled after the principle of public-private partnership, businesses, foundations or private individuals sponsor young talent with a pledge of 150 euros (INR 13, 996) per month. The Federal Government matches this amount with another 150 euros (INR 13, 996). But there is even more, Many universities and private sponsors also support Deutschlandstipendium holders through concurrent mentoring programmes, networking events and internships. Eligibility

Both International students as well as German students studying at Germany’s public or state-recognized university are eligible for the funding under Deutschland Stipendium.

  1. Studying or commencing studies at UG or PG-level degree any German institution.
  2. Part-time students and prospective students waiting for admission are also considered eligible.
  3. Proficiency certificate in English or German language.

Award & availability

Stated amount: 27,994

  1. Each scholarship recipient is granted a monthly stipend of $300 (INR 27,994), with 150 euros (INR 13, 996)/month contributed by the federal government and 150 euros (INR 13, 996) provided by private sponsors, including foundations, businesses, and individuals.
  2. Both first-semester and higher-semester students of any nationality are eligible to apply for the Deutschland Stipendium.
  3. This funding program is open to students in all German public and state-recognized universities.
  4. The scholarship is granted for a minimum of two semesters and can extend up to cover the standard study duration.
  5. Scholarships are awarded based on exceptional academic achievements, civic involvement, social dedication, and personal accomplishments, such as overcoming challenges in the student's social or familial background. Scholarships are limited.

Application

No Separate Application or Fee is Required to get the grants, it will be automatically considered, once you enrolled for the program. For details regarding the application process, deadline of application, admission requirement and supporting documents aspiring students must directly get in touch with the university they are enrolled in or in which they are seeking admission.

  1. First- and higher-semester students can apply directly to their university if they provide Deutschland Stipendium.
  2. Master’s program applicants need to include the certificate from their undergraduate degree.
  3. For matriculated students, they need to include a current transcript indicating their unweighted average grade (or evidence of their average grade/final grade on the last examination or degree completed). Note: All supporting documents must be submitted in English or German. Selection process

An applicant’s entire personality is taken into account during the selection process. From academic excellence to personal achievements, everything is equally considered. The selection procedures are determined and announced in detail by the universities. The scholarships are advertised publicly. The universities make the selection decisions. For some of the scholarships, sponsors can make a binding determination of the subject of study. Representatives of private donors can be appointed to selection committees in an advisory capacity. ​​​​​​​As per majority of top institutions in Germany, selections for Deutschland Stipendium are based on the following factors:

  1. Scholastic and professional recognitions.
  2. Involvement in extra-curricular activities.
  3. Special achievements, if any.
  4. Volunteer work, if any. Selecting the successful candidates and approaching potential sponsors with financial assistance from the Federal Government - the entire process is conducted by the respective universities.
