DESTINATION AUSTRALIA SCHOLARSHIP

Destination Australia Scholarship Program is modelled for meritorious students who wish to receive financial aid to live and study in regional Australia. The scholarships, available to both domestic and international students, are funded by Australia’s Department of Education. Destination Australia Scholarship applicants need to apply to a recognized tertiary education provider who has been accepted as a partner for this program. Eligibility

You’re eligible if you:

  1. Are an international student.
  2. Hold a student visa for the scholarship's duration.
  3. Are a commencing student.
  4. Are UQ alumni commencing a different program (for example, Master’s after completing a Bachelor’s degree).
  5. Have a full offer to study an eligible program delivered entirely at the UQ Gatton campus (you don’t need to accept your full offer by the scholarship application deadline). And you:
  6. Will study full-time via Internal study mode at UQ’s Gatton campus for the scholarship’s duration
  7. Reside in a regional area of Australia for the scholarship’s duration as defined by the Australian Statistical Geography Standard Remoteness Structure 2016 (Australian Bureau of Statistics) And you're starting any of the below programs:
  8. Master of Agribusiness
  9. Master of Agricultural Science
  10. Master of Animal Science Students from low-socioeconomic status (low-SES), and who are first in family to tertiary study, and those living with a disability are strongly encouraged to apply.

Award & availability

Stated amount: 843,139

  1. Annually, the number of Australian universities and other tertiary providers of Destination Australia Scholarship change. For more than 400+ scholarships were awarded to the students.
  2. Scholarship recipients receive 15, 000 AUD (INR 8, 43, 139) for one academic year, post which their scholarship is renewed based on academic performance. Scholarships are limited.

Application

No Separate Application or Fee is Required to get the grants, it will be automatically considered, once you enrolled for the program. There is no single or common application process for the Destination Australia Scholarship Program. Since applicants need to apply for the scholarship via 35 eligible education providers, it is up to them how they want to distribute these scholarships. Amongst various regional education providers, there are institutions like the University of Melbourne where eligible students will be automatically considered for the scholarship. On the other hand, there are universities like Curtin University which have a detailed application process for Destination Australia applicants. The step-by-step application process for such universities is mentioned below: Step 1: Submit an application for an eligible course of study. Step 2: Write and submit a one-page statement demonstrating “How the Destination Australia Scholarship will assist you in reaching your career goals and how it will help you make tomorrow better.” Step 3: The assessment panel will evaluate your application and SOP for the scholarships. Step 4: Outcome notifications will be sent via the university to successful candidates. All unsuccessful candidates will also be notified. Step 5: Selected students will have to confirm their acceptance of the Destination Australia Scholarship within the specified time and via a specified mode of confirmation email. Selection process

Following each closing date, applications will be considered through the following process:

  1. A selection panel chaired by the Faculty of Science Associate Dean (Academic) (or nominee) will select scholarship recipients.
  2. Selection will be based on the Selection Criteria shown below.
  3. Wherever possible, UQ will notify applicants of the outcome of their application within four (4) weeks of the scholarship closing date. UQ reserves the right to extend the scholarship outcome notification period.
  4. Students will be notified by email if they have been awarded a scholarship and will have until the deadline specified in the email to accept. Students who do not accept by the due date will not be awarded the scholarship and will not be automatically considered for subsequent scholarship offer rounds.
  5. The decision of the Associate Dean (Academic) (or nominee) is final, and no further correspondence will be entered into. Other Info Termination of Scholarship- The University will terminate the scholarship:
  6. if the recipient does not enrol in an eligible program in the proposed semester of commencement; or
  7. if the recipient fails to maintain full-time enrolment (6 to 8-unit study load per semester) via Internal study mode (at the UQ Gatton campus) throughout their approved study program; or
  8. if the recipient defers, interrupts or withdraws from their approved UQ study program at any stage during the scholarship period; or
  9. if the student commits serious misconduct; or
  10. if the student fails a course in their first semester; or
  11. if the student fails to fulfil their obligations as a scholarship recipient as defined in this document; or
  12. if the student fails to achieve satisfactory academic progress throughout their approved UQ study program as per the UQ Academic Progression Procedure.
