DRDO is having a scheme to offer Research Fellowships to provide opportunity to bright, young talents to carry out research work leading to earning of higher qualification or to acquisition of research experience. These Fellowships are available for a limited period and give no claim whatsoever to Research fellows for regular employment in DRDO. Selection of Research Fellows is carried out by Director of the Laboratories/ Establishments of DRDO. Advertisement for award of Fellowships is published in leading national daily, Employment News and DRDO website. Selection process consists of interview in which candidates are assessed their aptitude for research work, clarity of concepts, spirit of Scientific enquiry, analytical reasoning, range of scientific and technical knowledge, and capacity to application of knowledge, etc. Candidates who have passed national written test NET/ UGC/ GATE are given preference. and emoluments of Research Fellows are as below: Type of Fellowships Minimum Educational qualification Upper age Limit Emoluments (per month) Junior Research Fellow (JRF) Post Graduate degree in Basic Science or Psychology in First Division with NET qualification. or Graduate degree in professional course (B.E./B.Tech) in First Division with NET/GATE. or Post graduate degree in professional course (M.E./M.Tech) in First Division both at Graduate and Post graduate level. or Degree in medical Science (MBBS) or Dental Science (BDS), in First Division 28 years Rs. 31000/- + HRA Senior Research Fellow (SRF) Upgaded from JRF after two years on the basis of recommendation of Internal Assessment Committee constituted by Head of the Lab/Estt. Rs. 35000/- + HRA Research Associate (RA) PhD/MD/MS/MDS or equivalent degree or having 3 years of research, teaching or design and development experience after MSc/M.Pharm/ME/M.Tech with atleast one research paper in Science Citation indexed (SCI) Journal. 35 years Rs. 54000/- + HRA Note:
- The upper age limit is relaxable upto 05 years in case of candidates belonging to Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes, and upto 03 years in case of candidates belonging to OBC.
- In addition to the monthly emoluments. Research Fellows are also entitled for Contingency grant upto a maximum of Rs. 15000 per annum for JRF and Rs. 20000 per annum in case of SRF & RA on reimbursement basis. Selection process
A Walk – in - Interview for the Award of DRDO Junior Research Fellowship (JRF/SRF/RA) will be held at DFRL, Mysore. Other Info DRDO was formed in 1958 from the amalgamation of the then already functioning Technical Development Establishment (TDEs) of the Indian Army and the Directorate of Technical Development & Production (DTDP) with the Defence Science Organisation (DSO). DRDO was then a small organisation with 10 establishments or laboratories. Over the years, it has grown multi-directionally in terms of the variety of subject disciplines, number of laboratories, achievements and stature. Today, DRDO is a network of around 41 laboratories and 05 DRDO Young Scientist Laboratories (DYSLs) which are deeply engaged in developing defence technologies covering various disciplines, like aeronautics, armaments, electronics, combat vehicles, engineering systems, instrumentation, missiles, advanced computing and simulation, special materials, naval systems, life sciences, training, information systems and agriculture. Several major projects for the development of missiles, armaments, light combat aircrafts, radars, electronic warfare systems etc are on hand and significant achievements have already been made in several such technologies.
