BUDDHA FELLOWSHIP PROGRAM

Buddha Fellowship Program (BFP) is an innovative initiative of SRIJAN to bring talented youth from premier institutions and support them in solving acute problems of the country in an entrepreneurial manner. This program is designed to nudge professionally trained persons towards more risk taking self-initiating entrepreneurial behavior.​​​​​​​ The fellows have the opportunity to witness firsthand the lives of less privileged sections of Indian society and think about the possibilities of changing their career and life plans with a cost and benefit analysis of the same. An additional support will provide coaching and mentoring as well as help Fellows get funding for their enterprises.

Award & availability

Stated amount: Not Available The fellowship typically covers full or partial funding, including: Stipend for living expenses Program-related expenses (e.g., workshops, travel, or research support) Exact amounts can vary by year and by candidate’s needs, but previous cycles have offered Rs. 1.5 lakh – Rs. 3 lakh per year for selected fellows. The program is highly selective, with only 5–15 fellows selected per cycle globally. Each year, the number may vary depending on funding and program capacity.

  1. Desire to address issues like inequality, poverty, and dignity of life
  2. Ability to build consensus among different stakeholders
  3. Grit and determination
  4. Track record of execution Organisational Features:
  5. For-profit enterprise, in operation for at least two years
  6. Directly impacts the lives of vulnerable groups
  7. Preferred sectors: Agriculture, Livelihoods, Health and Environment
  8. May be incubated elsewhere

Experts will guide you to think deeper and perfect your solution. You can lean on the Buddha Entrepreneurship Network to rapidly gain traction. NGOs in our network will help you garner trust within the community. These communities can help you source raw materials for your business. Product Diversification - Mentors will guide you in conducting feasibility study to diversify the portfolio of your products and services, including finding a niche in a crowded marketplace. Diversifying may require adopting technologies to process and store. Similarly, sourcing from scattered geographies and supplying to a distant market requires large amount of working capital. We will help you on all such fronts. Stabilization and Growth - We will support you in creating a long-term strategic plan for your development enterprise. With a view on operational success, we will also assist you in gaining ess to the required human and financial resources towards realising your vision. Our team will actively help you secure grants or subsidies under relevant government scheme. Buddha Entrepreneurship Clinic Every quarter Buddha Fellows come to attend this offsite problem-solving workshop, which are called Buddha Entrepreneurship Clinic, where they meet with subject experts and mentors and come up with their own solutions. Buddha Fellows learn from Each Other's experience as well in these quarterly clinics.
