BAREFOOT RISE FELLOWSHIP
The Barefoot Rise Fellowship is an immersive 24 -month experience that helps in achieving educational equity in rural India by providing an opportunity to India’s brightest individuals to serve as full -time teachers in Shiksha Niketan, an extended primary school run by Barefoot College, with a unique hands-on approach to learning. The fellows cover the 24-month journey in 2 s tages. After spending the fir s t 12 months at Shikshaniketan, the fellows get an option to continue their works for another 12 months. The experience shall begin with an orientation week at Barefoot College where the fellows will get exposed to gras s root s development and organi sation’s strong philosophies. Each Fellow i s then as s igned a set of clas s rooms in Shikshaniketan and have the respons ibility to teach academics , values and mindset s and to give their s tudent s the acces s and exposure they need to reach their per sonal, long- term vi s ions. With prime focus given to the per sonal development of fellow as well, they get an opportunity to undergo field visit’s, exposure training by representing Barefoot College at an international level.

Eligibility
Young at heart professionals or graduates, healthy, motivated and energetic, high on communication skills, who are interested or are already participating in developing or delivering quality education to children aged 5 to 15.
Award & availability
Stated amount: 100,000
- Fellows receive a monthly stipend of Rs. 8,000 for living expenses at the project location.
- Rs. 50,000 and a certificate of appreciation will be awarded at the completion of 1 year of the fellowship.
- Rs. 1,00,000 and an additional certificate of appreciation will be awarded at the completion of 2 years of the fellowship.
- Mentorship by experienced professionals in the field.

Application
Fees is the subject to authorities, you may visit official website for more. Step 1 Shortlisted candidates submit a 5-min Video Demonstrating their Teaching capabilities and a 5-min video explaining their Teaching Material on any of these topics:
- Introduction to division
- Counting (preschool)
- learning about fruits
- Understanding sources of water
- Photosynthesis Note: You shall be assessed on your idea, creativity, motivation and ability to articulate. Step 2 Selected fellows will submit a basic medical certificate before orientation.
Selection process
- Barefoot College is looking for potential Fellows who have exhibited academic proficiency, demonstrated leadership; strong organizational skills hold a degree and are inclined to make a commitment to the community.
- Fellows complete a rigorous, multistage selection process where they are evaluated for core competencies that are essential for success within and beyond the Fellowship. We emphasise a hands -on, learning-by-doing approach and focus on poor, isolated communities in order to tackle social norms regarding gender and access to quality education.
