AWARD FOR MERITORIOUS TRIBAL STUDENTS - HSSLC SCIENCE - MEGHALAYA
The Directorate of Educational Research & Training Meghalaya, Shillong is implementing a scheme in providing the one time award for meritorious tribal students of Meghalaya who passed the current HSSLC Examination (Science) every year. The number of awardees is 80 i.e., 20 (twenty) awardees from East Khasi Hills and 6 (six) awardees each from the remaining 10 (ten) districts. The selection of awardees is based on the merit of student who secured 60% and above in HSSLC Examination (Science) district wise and the award is meant only for tribal students of Meghalaya. The one time award is @ Rs. 10,000/- per awardee along with a certificate. To provides financial assistance to the Tribal students of Meghalaya so as to enable them to pursue various courses to higher studies. Eligibility
1- An applicant must be a tribal student of Meghalaya. 2- Belong to Khasi, Jaintia, Garo, Koch, Hajong tribes. 3- Have passed the current HSSLC Examination from science stream. 4- Have scored 60% and above marks in the examination.
Award & availability
Stated amount: 10,000 The Selected students will receive an amount of Rs. 10,000 as one-time award with a certificate. The number of awardees is 80 (eighty) i.e., 20 (twenty) awardees from East Khasi Hills and 6 (six) awardees each from the remaining 10 (ten) districts.

Selection process
- The award will be based on merit of students in the current HSSLC Examination (Science Stream) mainly from schools/colleges of the different districts of the state.
- It is a onetime award meant only for tribal students of Meghalaya i.e., who possesses the Schedule tribe certificate of Meghalaya.
- The number of awardees will be selected district – wise i.e., 20 (twenty) awardees from East Khasi Hills district and 6 (six) awardees each from the remaining 10 (ten) district.
- DERT will inform the concerned Principal of school/colleges to intimate the concerned students for submission of necessary documents to DERT, Shillong.
- The screening of all necessary documents will be done immediately by DERT, Shillong.
- Final Selection of awardees will be done by DERT after screening the documents of the students.
- In case if there are no awardees entitled for the award in any district, the award will be diverted to the students who top amongst the students in the waiting list. Other Info Disbursement of Sclolarship- After verification of the required documents of all awardees the award amounting Rs. 10,000/- (Rupees Ten Thousand) only per awardee will be transferred through NEFT to the account of the awardees and the certificate will be sent by post to awardee’s residential address.
