The Albert Gordon Avis Bursary is awarded to one student each year who demonstrates academic potential as well as financial requirements. The University of Calgary bursary is designed for continuing students pursuing undergraduate studies in any field. 1. There are no restrictions in terms of nationality and citizenship 2. Albert Gordon Avis's Bursary is given to a highly meritorious student of the batch who is successfully promoted to the consequent year. 3. Eligibility
- Nationality: No restrictions; international students must be studying on a valid Candian student visa.
- Level Of Study: Entering Year 2, Year 3, or Year 4 of an undergraduate degree program at the University of Calgary.
- For the majority of awards, you must have completed a minimum of academic 24.00 units over the previous fall and winter terms and also be continuing in your program by registering in full-time enrolment status in the upcoming academic year. Some awards allow for minimum completion of 18.00 units. Students who are registered with Student Accessibility Services to receive accommodations in their program qualify for awards after completing at least 18 units in the most recent fall and winter terms.
- The cumulative grade point average (GPA) used for awards purposes is based on all courses you most recently completed in the fall and winter terms as a full-time student. Scholarships require a minimum GPA of 3.20. For bursaries, the minimum GPA required is 2.00.
- Competitive awards require you to complete the on-line awards application; selection is based on academic merit however other criteria such as financial need (for bursaries), and/or extracurricular activities, leadership, volunteerism, etc. may be required depending on the award terms of reference.
- Nominated awards are based primarily on academic merit and most often are designated to a specific faculty or program. An awards application is not required and candidates are recommended by the faculty or department.
- Students entering an after-degree program in the fall term are not eligible for awards for Continuing Students however after completing the first year of your after-degree program, you qualify for these awards.
- Supplemental exams, deferred exams, special deferred exams or term work and CS grades may affect your eligibility for awards.

Application
No Separate Application or Fee is Required to get the grants, it will be automatically considered, once you enrolled for the program. Once the students have established eligibility criteria for Albert Gordon Avis Bursary, they can proceed to apply for the award as an additional application is to be submitted. Interested Candidates must fill out and apply to the office of Registrar, University of Calgary. Step 1- Access My UCalgary (my.ucalgary.ca). Step 2- In My UCalgary, click on the "My Financials" page. Step 3- Scroll down to the Awards & Scholarships section, and click on "Apply for Undergraduate Awards". Please ensure popups are enabled. If popups are blocked the page will not display. Step 4- A pop-up window will open on your screen with any open applications or ones that recently closed. - To receive award payment you must continue to meet the terms of reference for your award and maintain full-time registration during the upcoming fall and winter terms.
- Please review your award notification for information on how the payment will be disbursed. In most cases, the value of your award is applied directly to your tuition and fees, and award payments are split equally between the fall and the winter terms. Any remaining award funds are paid to you by direct deposit on October 25 for the fall term and on February 25 for the winter term. These excess award funds are referred to as "Payout of Scholarship Refunds."
- You can view your account summary and award payment in My UCalgary.
- Students must provide the university with banking information to receive a "Payout of Scholarship Refund." Enter your banking information through My UCalgary. Under the "My Financials" section and click on "Submit Direct Deposit Info."
- Payment of your excess award funds may be delayed if your banking information is not accurate or kept up to date.
