ALAN PLUMTREE GRADUATE SCHOLARSHIP IN MECHANICAL & MECHATRONICS ENGINEERING

The scholarship, valued at up to $20, 000 (INR 12, 32, 280) will be awarded annually to a full-time University of Waterloo graduate student registered in the Faculty of Engineering. The scholarship will be awarded to a graduate student on the basis of scholastic excellence and a demonstrated interest in Mechanical and Mechatronics Engineering, who holds an Ontario Graduate Scholarship (OGS) or a Queen Elizabeth II Graduate Scholarship in Science and Technology (QEII GSST). If the match or enhancement becomes unavailable or a suitable recipient cannot be found, the funds will be paid out as a regular graduate scholarship. Eligibility

  1. The recipient must be a full-time graduate student who has been awarded an Ontario Graduate Scholarship (OGS) or Queen Elizabeth II Graduate Scholarship in Science and Technology (QEII-GSST) and has been accepted into the Graduate program in the Department of Mechanical and Mechatronics Engineering.
  2. Selection to be based on scholastic excellence (minimum 80% average) and demonstrated interest in pursuing a graduate degree with a concentration in Fluid Mechanics and excellence in research through hands-on applications.
  3. The goal is that this scholarship be given in conjunction with major external awards that require a matching or enhancement component. For example, the funds earned in the endowment could be matched 2:1 by the Ontario Graduate Scholarship (OGS) or Queen Elizabeth II Graduate Scholarship in Science and Technology (QEII-GSST) program as long as this program is in effect.
  4. If the match or enhancement becomes unavailable or a suitable recipient cannot be found, the funds will be paid out as a regular graduate scholarship.
  5. The University of Waterloo will identify candidates and select recipients each award year.

Award & availability

Stated amount: 308,070

  1. The value of the Award will be determined by the income generated by the fund each year.
  2. The goal is to provide a combined scholarship with a value of up to $20, 000 (INR 12, 32, 280). Of this, $5, 000 (INR 3, 08, 070) will be provided from the endowment income, to be matched 2:1 ($10, 000 (INR 6, 16, 140)) by funding from Ontario Graduate Scholarships (OGS) or the Queen Elizabeth II Graduate Scholarship in Science and Technology (QEII-GSST).
  3. The University of Waterloo will top-up the scholarship with $5, 000 (INR 3, 08, 070). This will be in addition to the minimum funding.
  4. The value and/or number of scholarships may change as funds permit.
  5. Eligibility for the scholarship should be based both on academic merit and preference will be given to graduate students whose area of research is engineering materials.
  6. If the match or enhancement becomes unavailable or a suitable recipient cannot be found, the funds will be paid out as a regular graduate scholarship. Scholarships are limited.

Application

No Separate Application or Fee is Required to get the grants, it will be automatically considered, once you enroll in the program.

Selection process

The Alan Plumtree Graduate Scholarship in Mechanical and Mechatronics is offered to the student based on academic excellence.

  1. Must be a graduate pursuing Mechanical and Mechatronics Engineering at the University of Waterloo.
  2. Selection to be based on scholastic excellence (minimum 80% average) and demonstrated interest in pursuing a graduate degree with a concentration in Fluid Mechanics and excellence in research through hands-on applications.
  3. The University of Waterloo will identify candidates and select recipients each award year.
  4. Student selected automatically by Faculty/Department.
