Abdul Majid Bader Graduate Scholarship is awarded to students of Dalhousie University located in Halifax, Nova Scotia, Canada. International Students taking admissions at Dalhousie University in Masters or Doctoral Programs can apply for this Scholarship. Via this scholarship, financial aid of $40,000 is provided to the students. Applications for the Abdul Majid Bader Graduate Scholarship are received through Dalhousie University's Harmonized Scholarship process. Eligibility

  1. Applicants from Iran will be given first preference for the award, with international students being considered if there are no Iranian candidates.
  2. Students with first-class academic standing (>3.7/4.3) in their last two years of academic study may apply. Preference is given to students who have not yet started their degree or are in the first year of their PhD program at the time of application.
  3. Students enrolled in a master’s program at the time of application are not eligible to apply.
  4. Students who have applied to master’s programs are eligible to apply.
  5. Students who are enrolled in or have applied to doctoral programs are eligible to apply.

Award & availability

Stated amount: 3,353,892 The scholarship is valued at $40,000 for one 12-month academic year of full-time study. The scholarship is renewable, subject to an annual progress review. The award can be held for a maximum of 24 months of full-time study. Fees are not waived and must be paid out of the award. One new award is made each year. Application

No Separate Application or Fee is Required to get the scholarship, it will be automatically considered, once you enrolled for the program. Applications will be automatically directed to departmental judges as they are submitted. You may withdraw and re-submit your application any time until the deadline. Please note that your department may have an earlier internal deadline if it wishes to provide feedback prior to the final submission deadline. It is recommended that you check with your department to confirm their internal deadline in advance.​​​​​​​

Selection process

  1. Applications undergo evaluation based on the Tri-Council Guidelines, encompassing academic excellence, research capacity, communication, interpersonal skills, and leadership abilities.
  2. For Master's applications, assessment follows the CGS-M criteria, taking into account academic achievements, previous study duration, program type, and coursework.
  3. Regarding research potential, factors such as contribution originality, critical thinking, skill application, research significance, and feasibility are considered.
  4. Personal characteristics and interpersonal skills, including work experience, leadership, volunteerism, and the ability to communicate complex concepts, are also evaluated.
  5. Doctoral applications align with CGS Doctoral Criteria, emphasizing research aptitude, proposal quality, training relevance, contribution quality, and communication abilities.
  6. Applicants' experiences and achievements, both within and beyond academia, including scholarships, awards, academic records, and extracurricular involvement, are taken into consideration. Successful offers are communicated to respective departments.
  7. Applicants are granted a 21-day window to accept or decline the offer.
